Do you have any plans to connect these 3 levels? Some staircases or a path for minifigs to travel between levels.
@eggybricks2 жыл бұрын
@@sinan_collects Great question! We want to add either stairs or an escalator (w/ one of those Metro Entrance structures so the minifigs don't fall in) from the 3rd level into the 2nd level train station. Not sure yet about access between the 1st and 2nd levels. We might leave it up to imagination that there's some access on the other side of the tunnel, past the city. Or we might be able to add some stairs in front of the tunnel. (Your shelf city sounds very cool btw!)

I really love the way you’re hiding behind the table and turning the builds around by hand. I hope you never stop doing that! Way more charming than a motorized turn table. 😄

I love this channel. such high production quality, but it still feels like a "small" channel, and it's all from a fan perspective. most lego channels want to avoid any problems that real life imposes, but you guys embrace them, and it makes your city feel so much closer to my experience as a builder. love it

I really like this idea! I also think its great how it gives a forced perspective to the city, making it look like those smaller buildings are farther back in space than he huge ones up front, and think it'd be cool to do a third layer even further back that's micro-scaled that could add even more depth to it!

Loving the videos so far. Very cool to see a new channel crop up and instantly start rolling out great engaging content! The smaller modified buildings on the top city platform are genius. Great use of the small builds from various sets. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the city develops. 👍

I saw two Asians with a Lego city and immediately hit subscribe. So pleased to see that your content is also high quality. I love the idea of 16s and 8s for modded modular systems, and I’m especially impressed with the transition block and your wonderfully detailed visual explanation using precise angles and pythagorean triangles. The effort you put in doesn’t go unnoticed! Looking forward to seeing your city and channel grow.

Great content. I particularly enjoyed the analysis of the angles with the existing flat angled tiles at 4'18'', and the subsequent inference about which right triangles can be built based on that selection of angles at 4'30''. This is the first time I come across such a deep and principled approach to lego design. You illustrated it with excellent visuals and clarity; and casually put it as a "side note" on your video. These illustrations of 'Fundamental shapes in Lego Building' and 'how they feed into Lego design' could make for a great and unique video. I really enjoy your content and, most importantly, the genuine enthusiasm that permeates through your videos. Keep nurturing this enthusiasm, this is what makes your videos unique, and genuine quality will always prevail over quantity in the long run. Greetings from your fan in Paris. PS: Note that by combining flat angled tiles of different sizes, you could reach more variety of angles, albeit at the price that the lengths won't match perfectly. E.g. (taking the colours in your illustrations) using 1 of the indigo 2 stud long angled tile coupled with 1 of the grey 3 or 4 stud long angled tiles)

This is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for ideas on! A tiered city build with trains and using mini-modulars for the buildings! I have plenty of vertical space, but not a lot of floor area/depth. So, I've been jotting ideas down for a mountain-side theme for the city my daughter and I are going to build together! Can't wait to see more of your vids! (Just discovered the channel!)

Firstly thank you for showing how Monkie kid sets can be incorporated in a Lego City. Being an avid fan of City theme you actually opened a whole new level to add into my next City layout. Great job guys, much love and appreciation from Pakistan!

I just found your channel tonight. I wish I found Monkie Kid and Ninjago a few years ago before I started collecting city sets. The mini modulars look fantastic. And they make me love the Ninjago and Monkie Kid themes even more now. I am sad City of Lanterns is retiring the year I discover I love the theme. I have too many city and Star Wars on my retiring wish list this year.

Your channel is incredible, I really enjoy how high quality it is and how down to earth normal people yall seem to be, if I were to make a lego city Id probably do one like yours. Please keep uploading. Idk if this is possible but maybe try and add more motorized or moving things in your city because that usually makes it stand out more.

Nice concept. Been looking at these too. My daughter and I build those small sets together and they have a high playability for her. Been looking on how to integrate them like you but also keep the playability there. Those hinges do not work in a city. I am think about making the back walls come off with technic pins like you do these mils plates in your videos. Gives me more uniform buildings and her a better way to play which lacks in the big modulars.

I did something similar in my city, all buildings are multiples of 8. I usually stuck to 8x8 or 8x16 and a 6 stud front walk. It makes it easy to interchange and match a city. Good luck!

Thanks!! We've been thinking about adding lights for a while, but haven't come up with a solution that seems like it'll be clean and not-too-finicky. We're probably going to start simple with the PoweredUp lights and go from there.

I'm new at this (as an AFOL), haven't played legos with intention since the 90's at least. I got a crap load of old pieces in a bin, a few sets and one modular (Boutique hotel). Apparently only takes one modular to turn your life into a sick obsession... But all these fancy modified pieces are new to me (and not in my mostly early 2000's collection). So many of the SNOT pieces now with studs on multiple sides, many kinds of jumpers besides the old 1x2, new tiles, so many new colors. My builds aren't even that bad for a relative noob, but I just run out of relevant pieces half way through everything. I ordered a lot but it's hard to even know what to get. Would you do something to cover something like that roughly? i.e. for people who are like new AFOL (and into say modular buildings with interior details, vs. maybe cars/castles/space) what are important pieces to get to get started playing around with modulars like these? For architectural details, for furniture and accessories details? How do you typically use certain common types of pieces and when? I love your city plan (I'm also in an apt; Chicago) I'm going to do similar and make some minis like this, they're so cute and a great size to start with. The channel "small brick city" seems to have the most detailed actual tutorials with building tips. If you have time to do some like he used to do that would be awesome. Great channel, beautiful MOCS, really appreciate the content!
@renatovelarde422 Жыл бұрын
Also I'd love to hear about some structural things that feel really obvious but no one actually seems to talk about. Like it seems like the lego modular rule is like baseplate, then right into bricks for 7-8 layers then tiles, then two layers of plates for a sturdy floor then bricks, then tiles again, etc. Do you try and keep a certain min-max height for things to work best? How do you feel about the mils baseplate system thing that the hotshots on youtube all seem to use? Is it worth doing? Also your production value is awesome, looks great. thanks again!

Fantastic lil builds! and excellent strategy for getting the most out of the space. Love the house plants in the background. The body-less arms for rotating the models cracked me up 😂 Definitely liked the angles overview! I've been curious for a while if there's a simple mathematical relationship that describes why the 1:2 and 1:3 angles combine so effortlessly to make 45, 90 and the 3:4:5 angles. I haven't dug into it much but if you know of one already, I'd be super stoked if you point me in the right direction! If not, no worries! 😃
@eggybricks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah we don't have one of those spinning platforms so we have to make do 😆 Not sure if this is super simple but: - the first half of this video shows a geometric construction of why a 1:2 angle plus a 1:3 angle adds up to 45°: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqqlfmaso6-Gd9E - here's that in written form plus how doubling them and adding a unit square gets to the 3-4-5 triangle blog.mathoffthegrid.com/2016/10/12-triangles-and-their-link-to.html
