The most heart wrenching part is when Ali is searching for Sang-Woo after he realizes he’s been betrayed. He is using the Korean word for older brother. A term of respect. He’s like a lost little kid calling out for his older brother who’s left him to die. It destroyed me when I learned that.

I totally feel for Gi-hun in this episode. I work for old people and there was this old lady who had dementia and was so scared to go to bed. Every night she asked me if the next morning it will be me to wake her up and each time I answered yes even when it will be my coworkers because I thought she will forget. But one night, she took my hand and told me : « You say that but it’s never you. »

The writing for "Jiyoung's" character was brilliant. In such a few exchanges with "Saebyeok" we get so affected by her character. Jiyoung will forever live in Saebyeok's mind and heart and this is yet another form of torture for the already tortured. Jiyoung's character also shows the real depths of the evil in the operators. They did not have to prey on her, she was not in debt. She did her punishment and could of had a new start in life. It's strange that they would have approached her. It seems so diabolical and evil.
@user-134303 жыл бұрын
I think she inherited debt from her father - she says that she expected the squid game recruiters to be there for her father's loans. Although at the moment of recruitment she must be a lot more vulnerable emotionally than financially - there must be support systems in place for inheriting debt, right? But also, she is a criminal, she killed a person. Maybe that's why the legal system can't help and she has to fend for herself. In any way, squid game organisers are _definetely_ not as fair and chArITabLe as they try to be perceived. Even if she was in debt - she did not deserve that.

As someone who’s watched a lot of Korean movies, I have to say that I personally think that’s an unfortunate habit most Korean directors follow. Just my theory.. Oh Ilnam (old man) pretty much knew his fate and was just going down memory lane as he was going through the village. He was prolonging the game just to play with Gi-hun one last time in his last minutes because they were true friends. He obviously was aware of the cheating but in the end, still gave up his last marble to perhaps teach him a life lesson if he ends up getting out. Also Sang-woo vs Ali was a game of wits and unfortunately Sang-woo won. Sae-byeok and Ji-Yeong was so sad since Ji-Yeong didn't have anyone or anything to go back to which is why she sacrificed herself. Outcomes were so tragic and I cried so much!

Omni, Ji Yeong’s sacrifice hit the hardest😭It got me thinking long and hard about the writing of her character tho:- Why is she not seen in the first two games, we don’t know if she voted to stay or leave. Surely she voted leave. Physically and sexually abused people are rarely motivated or psychologically healed by monetary compensation alone. If she did leave why would she go back? If she’s already suicidal why didn’t she just keep moving on Red light or just ate her cookie? The problem is that the construct of the Game doesn’t offer anything for people like Ji Yeon so why recruit her into it? The writers should’ve restricted the players back stories to indebtedness which winning would instantly solve. Instead she suddenly appears when the team games start and makes the noblest sacrifice to save SaeByoek to drive her story arc.

Saebyuk literally means Dawn in Korean though it's tmi😂 and Jiyoung is actually really really common, ordinary name in Korea like Mary, Linda, Susan

I get your point with the old man but we never saw Ali actually get shot too.

The voice said "player 199 eliminated" and we heard the shot. I think he died.
