before squid game, i saw park sung hoon for the first time in the glory. his performance as jae jun made me think that he would be typecasted as another villain(or at least antihero) in squid game. i was so pleasantly surprised by how he played hyun ju! i'm not a trans woman, but i am nonbinary, and his portrayal of her was so refreshing to me. i dont fault the director and casting managers for not being able to find a trans actress to play her at all, especially in a society like korea's, and applaud them for including a realistic depiction of a trans character both given the circumstances and because they didnt have to at all.
