The popular Netflix K-drama Squid Game returns for a second season!

This woman at the end who puts on the worker's pink uniform and face mask, triangle in her case, seems to be extremely well rehearsed on what to do. I don't think these people in the three trucks are "new" recruits. They are being called back to work.

Exactly. It would take way more vetting (for loyalty) for someone to be entrusted as a triangle than a grunt circle. Circles just need to learn to keep their mouths shut. Triangles need to be vetted for all that plus make sure they won't hesitate to shoot or turn weapons against the organizers. So all triangles worked the games before as circles and know what to expect. Mild scene problem I had was that the triangles all arrived for truck pickup within too close proximity to one another. When 011 went in the trailer, many rooms were still in the middle of changing which risks them seeing each other's face through the slit (even with backs turned), plus 011 could see someone in the distance walk into the trailer from afar. I don't know if the organizers would compromise required anonymity like that.

That was my immediate thinking when it wasn't yet revealed even. If she was new, player or guard, would she really just waltz through that truck and its little cells this confidently? But when she was revealed to be part of the scum, it was immediately clear that this was not her first time. Pretty much why she immediately went onto my shitlist.

I get the feeling pink bunny girl is a veteran triangle who worked multiple games, thought she did her last one, but empathy for sick little girl makes her work "one last time." She knew the routine too well, they wouldn't trust first timers with a gun (they might hesitate), so they start everyone out as circles and vet them for years for loyalty. Then if they have skills from their private lives (soldiers; cops) they could be promoted. I forget but I think front man won his games 7 years before S1. I think he started out as a circle, then triangle (since he's ex cop), then square, and finally front man shortly before S1.

It was 5 years - front man won in 2015, and S1 was in 2020. The recruiter said he worked as a circle "for a few years" before getting a gun, and then I assume it was some more years until getting the recruitment job. I assume that the front man didn't go through the same cycle - it seems too fast. I'm guessing that the way he won showed whoever was then front man that he was good next candidate, and so he was recruited as a square immediately.

At the beginning of the episode when her and the main character meet on the staircase it seems like she recognizes him. The whole episode paints the girl as cold and secluded. She didn’t seem startled when the guy handed her the card in the dead of night. She called the number and seems to go through a code activation. So at the end of the episode the reveal of that she is a “Stormtrooper” it all clicked for me.

The most obvious hint imo was that she just walked into that truck with its cells without any emotion. Guard or player, if she was new, she'd surely be creeped and weirded out by that. But she already knew the drill.

I didn't understand why the woman threw the child's picture into the fire at first either but it all made sense after she put on the triangle (shooter) mask. After accepting that her child has likely passed away and no one will let her hold on to hope, she decided to accept the shooter triangle job and her burning the child's picture represents her attempt to burn away the rest of her humanity. Whether or not she is successful and becomes cold, cynical, and twisted like the recruiter guy or if she finds her humanity again and whether or not she will be redeemable after her (projected future heinous) actions, we'll have to wait and see what direction they take with her character. In regards to the idea of a broken system and consent, obviously the show is meant to refer to capitalism but this specific idea can be actually be applied to any flawed "system". It's the idea that much of society complains about a system being broken, yet the individuals are "consenting of the rules of the system" by participating in it. The Front Man's argument is that by actively being part of the system (being a participant), we are all consenting to the system and we have to accept the consequences: people who are poor are poor because they don't work hard enough. This is basically about free will, the belief that we all have control over our own destinies so by extension, we are absolutely all responsible for our own situations period. The show's response is that many individual people in a broken system are actually powerless to make a difference. Power is hoarded by the few people on the top and particularly in the case for the people on the bottom, their choices are either limited or they have to choose between options which only differ in their degree of suckiness from just sucky to suckiest of sucky. This position argues that the amount of control people have over their destinies is influenced by other factors. For instance, a poor person whose child needs a cancer medication that's not covered by insurance does not have the same options as a rich person whose child needs a cancer medication that's not covered by insurance so how can the poor person have control of their own destiny when all of the good options aren't even open to them. How much responsibility does person bear for their sucky situation when their choices range between just sucky and suckiest of sucky? There's no definitive answer here. Notice that while the Front Man's position goes all-in on free-will, the show's argument does not go all-in on predetermination.

So while she remains on my shitlist for now, I think the self harm wound were potentially a result of her going through this already and not being as cold as most of the other people there. We'll see if she can redeem herself or not, but since she went in there again, she'd have to do a lot for that to happen.

You can see Gi-Hun he totally prepared for the right time to fight against the main bosses of the game. He have so much money, his own builiding, weapons, a crew and other things. But it is obviously the master of the game have so much resources to at least track Gi-Hun this entire time. Even if the game developers knew that someone is watching them because are the main billionaires of the entire world. In case of security in the island, they research almost every korean citizen in the country who can handle a weapon pretty well, in other words only the best are choosen for this job, even if they are North Korean defectors. The money is no problem for the security they contract, that depends if you dont break the rules, because no one knows who is in charge of paying them and it doesnt matter if they kill one of the security staff, its only business for them. Remember that the game developers only choose people with money problems, in other words they choose the people who are near of becoming poor or people who want to end their life.

I think he was so paranoid that someone from the game had gotten to the dentist or the dentist himself was from the game organizers, that he wanted to have his full faculties and refused anesthesia. Plus, the discussion in the limo about whether the game was perverted or that the game simply was a choice people made of their own free will. This talk helped tie in the scene from the first episode when the recruiter offered homeless people the choice of bread to survive but at the cost of remaining in their difficult circumstances, or to take a long shot at immediately improving their lives (lotto card) at the expense of their immediate well being (going hungry and becoming ill, or in the context of the game: death). However, the protagonist countered that the game organizers prey on people's desperation to influence their ability to make sound decisions, for the benefit of the wealthy organizers who are only doing this for sheer entertainment. It's basically an obvious message about the one percent in today's world who prey on the masses, especially the destitute, for their own benefit. At least that's what I think.

I like this idea of the other side of the Matrix. I think this is the theme of season 2. The duality. From Gi Hun's point of view, they were used as horses. They were manipulated to participate in this game. From the masked men's point of view, players've bet their life. They've considered themselves as horses just like the organizers. "The game will not end unless the world changes." This is what Gi Hun is supposed to learn. While the other side must find hope again.

I was right about the Boss guy not picking scissors or paper on purpose because he didn't want the other guy to get killed. That little kid was so cute that brought the picture to the lady in the Bunny costume, but the guy in the Pig costume was an A-hole. He knew who the little kid and her dad were and just skipped giving her candy so it was nice that the Bunny lady did. Wow, Sae-byeok little brother Cheol got so big since the end of season 2. I think it's been 2 years since Gi-hun took him to Sang-woo's Mom and 2 years after he didn't get on the plane (so about 4 years of time) for his character after Sae-byeok died. I forgot how old he character was, but he looks like a teenager now, but it's nice to see that both Cheol and Sang-woo mom are happy. I wonder if the cop's older brother's wife dying had something to do with him becoming the Front Man for the games. Did she die while he was in the game or sometime after he won and how would he not have enough money to help her if he already won? That A-hole guy passed the little girl again and didn't give her any candy, he really is a complete jerk. I think Gi-hun didn't use anesthesia because he's been knocked out by gas multiple times for the game waking up in different places so I understand not wanting to do that again. I don't know how you can hear your kid on the phone and not say anything, even if I don't know the right thing to say it's better than saying nothing at all. It was so funny how his horse mask was jiggling around with that shock.🤣 I was wondering how they were going to get Gi-hun back into and it was pretty good the way they did it. It's cool we got to see how they acquire the people that wear the Square, Triangle and Circle masks. I think it would've been better if the VIPs were 7 rich people each from the seven continents that were interested in having the game in their region of the world and invested in the games to find the most effective way to do it for their our continents. Like an American representative for the US, Canada and Mexico. Also they happen to be the wealthiest people in their respective areas. This would open up show spin-offs in other countries with a different show title representing the country's signature final game.

This season was alot more circus-like…😢 mimicry like the Squid Game show…the music was ill placed at points . It wasn’t as impactful…I wasn’t as attached to the players like FIRST season. The sympathetic factor just wasn’t there me for many of them..😢😢 the way it ended felt too short.
