the little girl with the strawberry hat is so cute 😭❤️ I hope that she gets her treatment by the end. I was also glad to see Sang-woo's mom and Sae-byuk's brother again. Which reminds me, I hope that Ali's wife and baby are doing well 😢

One interesting fact: No-eul (the pink guard lady)'s name means "sunset" while Sae-byeok's name meant "dawn" (obviously signifying sunrise). With both of them being from North Korea, I wonder if there's gonna be some parallel with their characters.

As I was watching this episode I thought it would be cool to get POV of some of the guards in the game and so I was soooo excited when the end reveal happened. This season started really interestingly.

if you look at squid game as one big metaphor for capitalism and the 2 classes within a capitalist society (which it is, the creator of the show outright said the show is a critique of capitalism), you start to see so much more than just a death game. the VIPs are the bourgeoisie, everyone else is the working class. the working class is broken down even more: - the players are at the bottom (the homeless, the addicts, the people with unimaginable debts) and they are most subjected to cruelty. - the pink solders, like the cops in our world, though still belongs to the working class, work to enforce the will of the bourgeoisie (the wealthy and rich) and to uphold the institutions with violence. they're still very much the oppressed class like the players (while working in the game, they live in tiny rooms, eat the same shitty meals not much different from the players). - the salesman/recruiter is the middle management, again, still working class, but has completely bought into the ideals of capitalism and thinks that he is different from the rest of the working class because his effort has been and will continue to be rewarded with upward social mobility. - Gi-hoon and the Frontman are interesting. both came from humble background. both have "beaten the system". but while the Frontman has decided to side with capitalism and became a CEO, a Frontman for a capitalistic game, Gi-hoon went the complete opposite way. he's not just trying to be a hero. dude has gain class consciousness and became a union man, trying to use resources of the rich (the blood money) to fight the system. if you pay attention to the games in this season, they reflect so clearly how capitalism turns family against each other, the illusions it sells, people's reaction to a seemingly democratic voting, what they're willing to sacrifice and bargain. and at one point the creator even subtly tells us how to win, or at least survive in the a capitalist society.

I'm really loving these reactions and S2! (I've watched up to ep 3 and am trying to split up my viewings even though it's so hard not to binge lol) I'm really liking the change in pacing for this season and the gradual buildup. Side question: Why is there a text cursor on the Netflix subtitles, like someone's live-typing them? I've never seen that before

I wonder what the criteria to be a guard is. Asking for a friend.

I was wondering what the deal was with the shipping containers and the orange rooms at the end because the participants are usually knocked out, so it was fun to have it revealed that it was actually for the triangle masks.

Yeah I thought she was doing it so she could get money for the little girl
