I doubt stuff is translated really well from English for a lot of stuff there it usually sounds radically more melodramatic in terms of acting at least. Avengers was big there, sure other stuff. It’s just people only get upset if you mess up other people’s stuff if they mess up your stuff people are like hey it’s not their first language, stop being uptight.

Actually, the cop, Jin-ho did overhear Gi-hun telling the other police officer his story, and Jin-ho saw Gi-hun's business card that was given to him. When Jin-ho saw that his brother was missing and discovered that same business card in his brother's apartment, and furthermore saw a bunch of minivans with everyone but the drivers unconscious and the worker in orange physically attacked him, that was enough for Jin-ho to be suspicious enough to do what he did throwing him overboard.

8:00 Even if it was once a year, Achara's analogy still makes sense. Major sporting events are also once a year. A lotta people are willing to skip the first round or two of sports playoffs and start with the semis or just the finals. Actually, I did that with the MLB playoffs this year, lol. It's also easier to explain to people who know them out in the real world where they secretly went for a couple days (if they need) than a whole week.

I remember the binders in the office being labeled as if it were yearly, but I was under the impression that it maybe occur more than once in a year. Perhaps cycling through locations/regions and even games. I could be way off.

I think the point of the tug-of-war was not to make us fear for the main cast's lives. Remember, the marbles game was next, and so I think the whole point of the tug-of-war was to bring the main cast closer together before tragically tearing them apart in the marbles game.

It made sense for them NOT to be there in the beginning because after every game, majority had a choice to end it. Like after the first game, they ended it and not everyone came back. Also, it took a while for those who did want to play to return. So, it made sense for the rich ppl to show up towards the end when the likelihood of that happening again was rare.

Haha as Jaby points out, the cop did technically act in self-defense. It's not like he went on board then started assassinating people. He was still only working on low-level suspicions but once the creepy guy in a mask pulled out a knife during their fight and was trying to kill him, the cop can totally defend himself.

The brother has probably been running this operation for at most 5 years, because this series took place in 2020 and the brother participated and won the game in 2015, which means that between then and 2020 is when he has become involved, however, he seems to be somewhat familiar with the VIPs and at least the previous years squid game, so he has probably been doing this for at least 2 years, but no more than 5.

Regarding the VIPs arriving late, I have a theory that since the fifth game has a high possibility of killing off every remaining contestant due to everything that could've gone wrong (there isn't enough player to reach the end, players could end up all falling off, they ran out of time and everyone dies, etc.) so the fifth game would instead be the deciding round, which is probably why the Front Man and the Host would've wanted the VIPs to arrive to witness it themselves. For the previous rounds, they could've just watch it through live streaming.

The balancing on the beams thing falls apart the more you wonder about whether or not there's still glass attached to them after they break, taking a chance you'd slice your feet up along the beams with any hunks of glass left on the rails holding the panes up, that's again to your credit, if they don't shoot you for trying to cheat the game first. Then again the more agony involved the more intense the VIPs get so maybe they'd enjoy watching at least one player bleed out trying to cross the rails instead of hopping across like the others

3:30 the main reason that drove Jinho to take such drastic measures was his missing brother. When he finds a clue (the card) that this whole suspicious ordeal could be related to his brother's sudden disappearance, he dives into the whole operation without a second thought. The other factors are him witnessing unconscious people in a minivan and him overhearing Gihun's report to the police. His attempt to find out the truth about all of this ends up tying him to this whole scenario. Also, the fact that many guards didn't know each other and that their identities were hidden, worked in his favor. Not only were the identities hidden from the players but also each other. This was the reason to establish a hierarchal system among the guards in the first place. They don't address each other by name and they don't talk unless they're spoken to. The only group that knew each other was the organ smuggler gang. They knew each other from before entering the game, which wasn't allowed.

Speaking of dubs, Marvel's have been quite good for movies, and just decent for TV shows, but there was a scene in Hawkeye between Yelena and Kate that I actually found better dubbed. Yelena kept repeating Kate Bishop's full name during their conversation and at one point Kate says "do you keep repeating my name just to show you know it?" or something like that, to which Yelena replies "yes". But in Spanish they changed it slightly to "do you keep repeating my name just to intimidate me?", to which Yelena also replies "yes". This simple change makes her character be a little bit more frightening tbh. The rest of the show's dub wasn't as good as this though.

I've watched a lot of Korean TV shows in the last few years and whenever they use American actors, it never seems to go well. I always assumed they just find Americans in Korea and ask them if they want to act. Plus, since these are made primarily for a Korean audience, I doubt too many Koreans would care or even know they were bad. Just my observations.

Pretty sure a lot of people in that part of the world watched Avengers so they do see American and western actors. Not on the soap opera or drama or whatever shows but that’s pretty specific to that area and the Americans which are probably mostly white people they’re hiring are probably like side characters, there’s no forced diversity there. They only try to force white guys to write other groups into the stuff they make more and more.

I don't think killing someone during an investigation is allowed in South Korea or anywhere in the world for that matter. Maybe the squid game series screen writers thought that even if the cop knocked the guy unconscious and took his clothes,some people would still ask why the guy who was knocked unconscious didn't go back to work and report that someone knocked him unconscious and took his clothes.

the cop got the information from the police who gihoon reported the massive crime to. the cop checked gihoons report true while following the ben. then he would have acted in a position to save his family rather than as a police officer.
