Okay for anyone confused, Gi Hun’s purpose for joining the game wasn’t to play. It was to help his crew find the island using the tracker. However, the detective’s crew had a traitor. The “traitor” was hired by The Front Man 2 years ago when The Front Man shot his brother. He hired the “traitor” to save his brother and lure him away from the island for his own safety

My biggest problem with this season is that the 7 hour run time can be this well summarized in less than 10 min. I feel like there really was so little substance this season. Hopefully season 3 develops the characters more and ties everything together nicely.

Yeah it was a season with a lot of fluff and filler. So many drawn out and repetitive montages. I feel like the 7 episodes could have been nicely compressed into 3 or 4.

I disagree, I think they had good characters and were explored well. It was a human story instead of the “saw” type show from last season. And them showing us the mole from the start added another layer of complexity. What is he looking to achieve? He sounds like a previous winner of the games that sees value in it beyond entertainment, and is trying to sway our protagonist into seeing it as he does. Kinda like Palpatine to Anakin.

That's kinda where I was at. It looks like Netflix has spread it out to 2 7hr seasons instead of 1 10hr season because of how popular the first season was and how anticipated season 2 was. Although it's not like the season is totally lacking in content. It's just that these kinds of recaps are much more plot focused and the first 2 episodes are all about building the characters and motivations. Hence why "and they fund him on the subway slapping people" is an adequate plot summary despite compressing an hour of story into one sentence.

Like we don’t even know how many of these characters got into debt in the first place and we spend so much time with characters that end up doing nothing this season. Like guard 011 and the team on the boat. I understand that this is setting up for the second part but it definitely does not do any favors for season 2. It just adds scenes that build up to nothing. And season 1 was way more focused on the characters than season 2. This is because season one had a smaller cast and so each character got to show their personalities, motives, and have development in the show. I feel like a lot of the characters just stay stagnant in season 2. Just my opinion though

oh yeah, front man is the step-brother of the police guy so could be. but hope they don't go that route cause it's too much of a stretch. would make more sense for them to stick with the season 1 (that he won the games, made the money but his wife died so he reasoned with himself to stay with stupid logic from the old man or something). yeah, i can see him making Gi watch the rest of the games with him trying to make him come to the dark side. but i swear if Gi somehow kills him during that or his cop brother shows up and kills him somehow i'll be pissed cause it's too predicable and it all could've been wrapped up in 2,3 remaining episodes they've cut out in the 2nd season

@@KristinaBlabla I'd rather have a predictable "cliche" ending that the fans enjoy than some of the absolute sh*t endings we've seen other popular shows have. Game of Thrones wanted to go with a "Oh my god I never expected that!" ending and it fell incredibly flat. Fans would've much rather had the predictable straightforward ending they can be happy about once they've invested years in to enjoying a show. Movies are different, fans don't mind surprise twists at the end because they didn't invest more than a couple hours and if it fell flat it is what it is. Shows that stretch years (Some upwards of a decade) fans just want the normal cliche ending that gives the characters meaningful closure.

I'm seeing a lot of people of people ask if they should watch S2. My answer has been it's was okay but leaves way too many answers. The problem was at the end of a series normally you get *some* threads resolved if leaving on a cliffhanger. It's something the MCU did very well. Squid Game S2 resolved very, very little of its many plot points - even forgetting it had other subplots in the finale. My answer to those people is just leave a S2 watching it until S3 is out and do them back to back because you will need it fresh in your mind. A man of recap analysis has never been more appropriate.

@horsepuncher95 don't think s3 has been highly publicised even though its happening. In any case, it defo feels like a 2 part series and I wouldn't really recommend anyone rushing to bing s2. It will work against Netflix and won't/hasn't caught fire the same way the first series did as a result.

Few corrections marine guy never saw a battle he was forced to enlist but its jorea meaning mandatory enlistment he was just in training camp and at most border watches or drills exercises Secondly the son DIDNT ABANDON the mother he was forced by the 2 guys he isnt a superman who can outpower those 2 he had no choice if anything mother let him go on purpsoe so he will 100% survive its kinda like she abandoned him nothing for him to feel bad about Also saddest and most disappointing death is when noona/punk girl gets murked she said yeah dude i trust u and he abandoned her again and again despite her giving him plenty of chances

It was ok first season was way better because it was different but this is more of how can we make it even crazier to keep the attention of the fans. I just hope there is no season 3. Honestly it would have been great to show at the end of the first season him using the money to help his mom and himself. @@ankanmaiti9864 wouldn't say it's that similar, they only both have/had a wife. but as far as predictability goes, yeah, we can pretty much guess what's going to happen in s3, but with the ending they can do wonders. hope they won't go with the classic "he/the cop continues the games" or "everything blows up and that's it but somewhere else is another (or multiple) island(s) where more games are held". if it's going to be one of those endings, i'd much rather the series ended back in season 1.

Really liked the season overal. It just suffers from the split syndrome. Same thing that ruined the final hunger games movies and the Hobbit. It's where they have 1 season/ movie of a story but split it up into 2 parts. Season 2 and season 3 are a single story randomly cut down the middle. Because it'd be too short we got a bunch of filler stuff like searching the islands. Basically the story is 10 episodes (perfect for a season) but they filled it to get 14 episodes then cut it down into 2 shorter seasons. I get why they do it but it really is a shame. Could've been way better.
