Neck shims are a lifesaver. Have an 80s Ovation solid body with a Kahler vibrato that ran out of adjustment range before I could get it set up correctly. Bought a similar 3 pack of shims and ended up using the .25 degree one. Worked like a charm.

this was really cool, and I am going to try it this week. The truss rod doesn't need any adjustment with the different tension? What string gauges do you like for a Jaguar? I have a buzzing open LOW E string thats making me nuts. Only buzzing on open string, fine when fretted. Suggestions?

I string all my 24” guitars(Jaguars, Mustangs, Jag-Stang) with 11s. If you have a buzzing open low string then you need more relief in the truss rod. Going up to 11s if you’re on something thinner might naturally add more relief with the increased tension.

My son has a '73 Fender Mustang. He was having similar problems with the bridge. The slide switches were also wonky from a bad wiring job when the previous owner put a SD Hot Rail pickup in the bridge position. I had to replace the output jack. (rust) My son wanted the guitar back as fast as possible. So, i just took the slide switches out, took them apart and fixed the contacts and spring so they work properly. The bridge is another matter. I hate these bridges. IMHO they are the worst bridge design to come out of the Fender shop. The logic behind it is, when you use the trem, the bridge rocks back and forth in the inserts pressed into the guitar. So, the height adjusters that Jake was using come to a point and the whole thing sits in a cup on both sides so it can rock. It was constantly going out of tune. And the previous owner cut the slots in the individual saddles and destroyed them. I bought a replacement bridge and did what I found a lot of other owners do. Wrap the posts that sit in the cups until the bridge is tight and does not rock any more. The trem still works and it stays in tune better because the bridge doesn't move. Oh, yea... The high E string kept popping out of the nut. The scoop on my sons Mustang where the headstock scoops down the way Fender does it was very shallow. This was so obvious when held up next to any of the Strats I own. I dont know why. So, I just took the spacer out from under the string tree and lowered it down to the deck on the headstock. That increased the break angle and solved that problem. Man, I can appreciate the guys that enjoy these guitars and make good music with them but after digging into my sons Mustang and just playing it, I came to the conclusion that I would never want one of these guitars. I'm just a simple guy who likes simplicity in my guitars and other things in life. Just gimme a Strat, man. Jake, I love your channel. I like the way you describe weak break angles and other things that you trouble shoot on your guitars. You have a talent for this. Please keep it up. Regards, John...
