Dr. Patel is amazing and he does all that he can for his patients. My insurance would not cover the removal of a cyst in my jaw but he fought with them and after receiving almost a dozen rejection letters he found a loop hole which let him do the procedure, covered by insurance and I am beyond thankful. He performed a flawless surgery. I will always recommend him to anyone needing oral surgery.

Just sharing this... I had the SAME issue after a tooth extraction (molar on the side of my mouth). My tongue was so swollen, I had an awful sore there. Went back to the oral surgeon - no luck. Turns out, a week or so later, my dentist found a bone spicule where the tooth was removed. He removed it and I had IMMEDIATE relief ❤️!!!! The sore took a few days to heal, but it could finally heal! Praying all goes well!!

Exactly what I was getting on here to say. Check the bone. I had a portion of my bone sticking out of the gum when my lower molar was removed. Apparently it isn’t unusual because when the tooth is removed it leaves an area that looks kind of like a volcano behind...some of the edges can stick out of the gum tissue. Immediate relief once you get it filed down. Just see if Shane can feel the gum area and see if that’s what is causing the pain. Good luck!

I couldn’t talk, just the movement of my tongue on that little shard of bone was HORRIBLE! Then it created that sore! Ugh what a Horrible situation. I’ve been told the little shards of bone (spicules) can work themselves out, even up to months later. Ugh I hope they see this and maybe have a dentist take a look. Poor Shane 😢

Due to my thyroid disease and small mouth, my tongue and throat often swell and it's so difficult and painful to talk sometimes. I too often get cuts in my mouth and just existing hurts, let alone talking. It's a different kind of suffering, that's for sure. I can't imagine Shane's pain in comparison right now! Wishing him a speedy recovery!

Wow, been there done that. After a cracked tooth with an abscess appeared during vacation, my tooth was removed. Got home and experienced what you did. I could feel the bone splinters. My dentist had to numb me up four times and go searching with the help of my tongue. Took about a month of searching. I was beside myself. Glad you are better.

I am so glad that Shane is ok. The last time I had a tooth removed by an oral surgeon I developed a huge blood clot a few days later. The surgeon actually had to go in and scrape my jaw bone. It was horrible! I am so thankful you guys are back!

Tea bags are used as a coagulant. Great for stopping excess bleeding, but it won't do much for tongue sores caused by rubbing against a raw tooth edge aside from being a physical block (in which case gauze would be just as effective.)

Shane, another thing you could do is take notes before you go to bed. That way you can rest your mind and fall asleep without having to worry about things you need to do the next day, or things you've already done the previous. It's just an idea. And this really helps me when ever I have a lot of things on my mind. ❤️✌️

Shane, this exact thing happened to me! Raw, I could 'feel' the piece(s) of tooth and asked my Hygienist friend. I was 'shocked' when she said it was Normal lol to have bits of tooth or even your jaw bone fragments after oral surgery. I ended up pulling, myself, three different pieces from my gums. The last was 5mm x 5mm! A tooth in it's own right! So very glad you are mended and better than ever! Nice haircut! Love from Washington State!

I have a shitty sharp tooth that cuts me, I can’t afford to fix it but I can afford dental wax! Hopefully you never need to, but in case anyone else does, get you some dental wax and cover any POS teeth that hurt you. I think it’s actually meant for people with braces, but it’s absolutely saving my sanity while I save some money up! It also helps with the sensitivity from the horribly chipped, sharp tooth.

I used a fingernail file on my razor sharp broken tooth and rinsed often with salt water to help heal the tongue.
