I only post new projects to the art club as of november of last year. I transitioned off of patreon. Also my website is much easier to navigate.

I just wanted to ask you and your viewers something. I hope it's okay that I just put it here. Hi! I need advice from anyone who colours pictures to completion, really. I did take up adult coloring, but ever since my first swatch chart in late 2017, I've concentrated solely on colour charts. Few years more experience and with much time spent and thousands of tutorials later, the fancy description of colour analyst occurred to me. Or Massive Queen of Endless and Obscure Colour Charts! But I do like to include at least one picture with every brand of pencils, gel pens, markers and so on. And I do a radial wheel picture thing to further test their blending quality. But I'm severely lacking in experience when it comes to actually colouring and especially completing for some reason, an actual picture/colouring, and I like to ask you about the following: - What is your order, when starting out a picture? - What things do you first determine? - Is it, for example, something like the following - 1: Is this drawing going to be done with realism or is it abstract/fantasy? 2: What is the time of day? 3: Light source direction. 4: Colour values. 5: Is the mood dark and brooding or happy and joyful? 6: Colour Schemes, if any. 7: Mapping out the entire drawing into geographical shapes on a photocopy of the drawing. 8: Working out which shapes overlap others. 9: Shading. 10: Highlights. 11: Shadows. 12: Which side of the page/corner of page will you first begin? All of these sorts of decisions, in which order I've undoubtedly done incorrectly. - Or perhaps firstly, in a less linear/clinical manner, what feel... or core ideas do you have about this picture? What drew you to this drawing and why do you want to do this drawing instead of the one on the next page? All that part is the emotional/artistic approach to colouring and perhaps I may be attempting to force a creation that is often spontaneous and inexplicable to fit into a scientific and clinically ordered process, when that is just not possible for this type of art (at the moment, I'm focusing on coloured pencils, but I imagine it would apply equally to pastels, markers etc. So yes, any thoughts/suggestions would be so very greatly appreciated. The pieces I see produced on this channel are stunningly gorgeous! 🌈

That is a lot to address. I think you're putting way too much pressure on yourself. I just have fun. I teach everything I do on my website and I work through it all. But I'm always encouraging the artists to enjoy their work.

@@UnmaskArt Thank you - you were the other person who came to mind as you were someone else who was/is considering doing a... collection of Master Colour Charts encompassing all brands of each medium in one chart for each colour (eg all the Reds in all the brands of coloured pencils you have in the one chart). But yes, I did ask the same question in a group I'm in and... some did outline their process, but the majority of people summed up probably I think the correct answer in three words - "you're overthinking it"! 😄 Probably an experienced artist subconsciously does think of all these elements - possibly in a matter of seconds. And they don't sit down and spend all week listing them before they pick up a coloured pencil. I suppose I just like the reference of a list. It makes me feel more secure in anything that I'm starting out in learning. When it comes to things I'm very experienced with, I have no list. But if someone were to ask me a question about a strike or defense I did in martial arts for example, I would know... but (I'm thinking as I'm typing this) and it's not maybe the best comparable but I don't know many things well and although that for example is second nature, I have in the past sat down doing stick man diagrams about something that gave me any trouble to work out why. But yes, I originally took it up as something to destress myself. I didn't know that I was going to like it this much! 😄 Thank you very much for replying 🙏
