I HAVE RESCUED MANYYY GREY SQUIRRELS. The BEST MILK for him is ESBILAC PUPPY FORMULA...its a powdered milk for puppies that all rescuers use for squirrels. Henry's Healthy Blocks are PERFECT ..also what I feed my squirrels. Your squirrel was probably around 5-6 weeks of age when you found him since his tail was" MEH" as you say..lol. I use a syringe w/ nipples from Amazon ment for rats and squirrels. Also you can give him veggies(sweet pot. butternut squash,yellow squash and pumpkin are all favs.) The cage you bought was an excellent choice.. LOOKS LIKE YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB SO FAR!!! 👏👏👏👏👏❤🐿

OHH..ALSO..squirrels teeth are constantly growing..ur baby needs either wooden chew toys,a stick cut from an oak tree ect..SOMETHING to file down his teeth on or he WILL start to chew any furniture made of wood in your house!! You could give him one in shell pecan or hazelnut but the tree limb is probably best.

ANDDDD..squirrels can get METABOLIC BONE DISEASE if they do not have enough calcium in thier diet. Start early(now) by adding FLUKERS LIQUID CALCIUM(Amazon or Petsmart)to his water. It is ment for bearded dragons but it's what rescuers use..that AND EXOTIC NUTRITION SQUIRREL BOOSTER MULTI-VITAMIN FOR SQUIRRELS. Since he is indoors and can not go outside to get an array of food to meet his nutritional needs you will have to supplement that for him. ❤ 🐿

I'm no squirrel expert, but I know with any animal rescue that you intend to release back into the wild- you need to get them used to foraging and being outside. I would recommend weening him off milk and bringing in acorns and other natural food/nuts that they scavenge for in the wild and getting him used to climbing to get to his food. He's already obviously a proficient climber by nature so it shouldn't be too hard to get him ready for the wild!

@@christynm.8933 Have you ever heard of giving a bone for the teeth issue? Years ago a friend found a squirrel and tried to keep it alive. It did ok for a while, but it died in the end because it got too many peanuts, which created a calcium imbalance, or something like that. A vet told them after the fact that giving the squirrel a bone to naw on would have helped with the teeth, as well as supplying much needed calcium.

This is so cute.... Where I live, in NYC, the squirrels are very aggressive. My mom had one run into her apt, destroying her screen window. I didn't have screens on my windows before, and caught a squirrel about to enter my apt. I chased him away, but god damn, that squirrel looked aggressive and scary. 5 stories up, this squirrel was. I love how he feeds. Did you know the clenching of our jaws and wanting to squeeze cute things is called 'cuteness aggression' and is a way we deal with intense feelings mentally?

My husband owns a tree service and found two baby squirrels and I raised them. It was the best experience ever. We released our squirrels last summer and I would still feed them, but they are completely on their own now. I see them every now and then. I can always tell them apart because they will come super close to me. Haven’t seen anyone else raise a squirrel so super excited to see you are.

I have a rescue named Franklin. 1. He loves sugar snap peas. 2. He loves cherries. 3. He loves grapes. 4. One day I tried feeding him his milk from a ramekin instead of a syringe, and he lapped it up perfectly fine. 5. He needs fresh water daily. Franklin drinks his from a bowl also. 6. He likes twigs. 7. He likes stuffed animals. 8. His favorite food is pecans -- whole ones, in the shell. 9. I put bamboo from a bamboo patch in his cage. He loves it. Before I found the bamboo patch in my neighborhood, I used tree limbs with green leaves on them that I found when people had freshly cut them and left them on the curb. 10. I put one of those metal hanging baskets with the coconut liner in it, and he made a nest from the leaves. 11. I built him a squirrel house and he made a nest in it. 12. I put the biggest sticks that I could fit into his cage and crisscrossed them so he would have more of a treey cage. He loved it the moment I put them in there. 13. I love Franklin. 14. You got this! I had a rescue baby squirrel, too. had to feed her with an oral dropper for a long while, too. Made her a heated water bed out of a cheap ice pack that I'd warm in the microwave 20 seconds or so and I covered it with a cshmere sock - the top I cut off and sewed. My squirrel never wanted to go out either. I tried to leave her in a tree and she ran down it and climbed back into my pocket - one of her favorite places.

@@BrittneeAlexus honestly from watching your video you are doing everything you should be, your feeding him correctly, giving him plenty of play time, my only thing is, if you plan on releasing him, I wouldn't interact with him as much, because when in the wild he may try and befriend a shitty human, and that would make an easy target for a "hunter" ...but other than that, you couldn't be doing a better job!!!!

I have a rescue squirrel to i have learned so much with my lil princess!!! 1: They do dehydrate quickly so they need water my squirrel (Ms Scrat) using a water bottle that’s attached to her cage!!! i tried the bowel but she would dunk her head into it n get chocked!! 2: Only give them 1 unsalted peanut a day peanuts have no nutrional value for them! I give mine pecans, walnuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds but still only a few a day!! 3: Henry’s Blocks has a lot of good nutrients it’s what i give mine but i also give her approved fruits n veggies!!! 4: If ur Henry is going to be released make sure he can build a nest, find food, n defend himself against others squirrels who may not accept him!!! 5: B careful letting him around ur dogs n cat bc he will think they are safe in once in the wild he will think the same n end up being killed!!! 6: Majority of squirrels treated as pets want be able be released!!! If u want to release Henry u hav to treat him as a wild squirrel which means less handling, n at right age more outdoor time by moving cage outdoors!!! 7: U can also buy a lease to take him outside!!!

I had 1 squirrel in my yard for a number of years then another one came along. I'm not sure if they like each other or not. I see them chasing each other through the trees and I don't know if they playing or fighting? 1 is a gray squirrel with a lot of red the other is a jet black squirrel. Last year I had 4 full grown squirrels then this spring there were 2 baby squirrels running around. They liked to run along the fence top. I can sit by the window and watch the squirrels in the trees and the rabbits on the ground. It's very entertaining.

When he did a quadruple spin on your arm I died out laughing! Hahaha that’s so cute. I love squirrels. I always tried to befriend the ones by my old house & they were NOT having it. Should’ve seen me in the morning trying to show these wild squirrels some love & them just bolting from me on the DAILY. I’d walk away just so devastated. Lol 🐿️ 🐿️

I had a "pet" squirrel about 15 years ago. He was also orphaned and a customer of mine brought him into the pet store I managed. I named him Zippy Nut Butt and he was the cutest thing! I housed him in the same cage as my adult male iguana (who was super chill) and it was so hilarious. The cage was custom built and was 6 feet tall and 6 feet wide. We had an actual tree limb in there for a perch for the iguana. So the funny part was, that the iguana was always in that spot and when I would walk by the cage, the squirrel would run along the branch to follow me and would continue along the back of my iguana when he got there. My iguana would just close his eyes and just let the squirrel do it. Maybe it felt like a back massage? LOL

i had a squirrel for many years. theyre actually very affectionate, playful and sweet. and mine had excellent potty manners once he was old enough. it wasnt exactly training it's just like an instinct i guess. he always went in his cage or on the dog's puppy pee pad when he was an adult. henry looks a bit big for milk still though, not that I'm an expert by any means.

Fun fact 🎉 skunks make amazing fur family! They get deskunked, they will have a tiny odor but the same amount as ferrets smell like popcorn and less than dog paws smell like Fritos. And get this- what better animal is there to have to guard your home and family than a SKUNK!!! I’m a huge fan and advocate for “protective breed dogs” but a person who is there to do crime to your life might not respond to a dog no matter how large leoud or ‘scary’ it happens that they just shoot the dog BUT if a skunk is strutting their way you know they’re running scared! Because if they shoot and even if they get a direct hit that skunk still gonna spray them 😊away!!!!

hello Brittnee just found this video Henry is so cute the place where I'm staying right now the lady feeds all the squirrels it started off with 2 now she has 7 there are 2 without a mom every morning she can hear them at the door and she has a window where she put her plants but remover that so they can set there this one squirrel wants to come in the house they are so sweet she wants to let him in he will be right at the door standing up begging for nuts I give them walnuts and peanuts and mini marshmallows to thanks for sharing.

I love animal ppl...My son has a squirrel he got as a tiny thing, no hair even..He loves the squirrel..I'm talking..he ain't hearing about how they need to be returned to the "wild"! He bought a cat tree from me that my cats didn't care for and Kev said at 1st... Ricky the squirrel didn't like it but finally Kev kept putting him on it and one day it clicked.. I know this is old video. But squirrels teeth keep growing so that mean they will chew lots. We rehabed a squirrel once. So lots of nuts to chew on so as not your furniture. We got luck because he went back to his nest. I know this as i saw him one day when were outside and he came the next day and spent one more night with us then back to his mommy. Id like to think he was saying good bye. We decided not make him axpet since we have three large rescue dogs. But for years we would see him as we put fruit and nuts out for him. We know him when we see him because he has a small bald spot on his tail. BE CAREFULL FEEDING HIM GRAPES. Our rocky almost choked. ❤
