For years I had 8 squirrels I fed twice a day and then Midnight showed up. He was a young black stray cat who we took in. Midnight never hurt one of those squirrels and on most summer days would be so gentle that he’d go right up to them and bump noses. Good luck with your crew and your new furry friend!

It amazes me how humble creatures understand GLASS!! Here in Sydney (Oz) I feed several different species of birds and they clearly show that they understand glass as a barrier that allows them to get up close without risk. The squirrels obviously know this too! We don't give other creatures enough credit!!

Kiara is very smart and inquisitive. I noticed she turned her head upwards when the airplane went by. I'm glad the squirrels aren't scared of her. Just as long as she doesn't start batting at the window, they should be fine. They probably would've been more scared if you had gotten a dog.

I have seen squirrel videos & photos showing cats & squirrels (& dogs & squirrels) coexisting peacefully in the past, so I know it’s possible, but it’s quite rare unless the humans involved take the appropriate care to build up to it. Unsurprisingly, you appear to be doing everything you can to keep the peace & make it all work! The squirrels have probably encountered cats before & learned to be wary, but hopefully, just as you’ve earned a place in their hearts as a friendly human, Kiara will be able to win them over. 🐿🐿🐱🐿🐿 You might find your own occasional home inspectors take a while to build up the confidence to come back in though! 😂 Also, 40k subscribers is just around the corner 🥳🍾🎉
