tbf this game is never-changing so skills evolve relatively fast. its so aerial based rn, at least relatively, that its not even close to enough to just know how to air dribble. that being said though, thats for ssl and pros. youll get to that point eventually with enough practice man. no highs without lows.

Squishy I noticed you often accuse players of "freaking out". However, I suspect usually from their perspective I think they probably don't feel that they freaked out. Instead, they probably feel they took the best option based on their abilities and what options they feel they had. They may choose to shoot into you ("throw the ball away") because they don't feel any other option will allow them to adequately defend against everything you might do based on their comfort and creativity with their own mechanics, or they may not visualize that other choices will have consistently better outcomes. When you accuse players of freaking out, it implies you think they had a better option they could have taken. If so, it would be good to hear you explain in these videos what you would have done in their position, however, recognizing that your mechanics may allow you to take certain options they can't (with consistency). While I'm on this subject, I will also let you know that I think the excellent back wall defense you demonstrate in your videos is the reason I see a lot of low-ranked players trying to defend from the back wall. The problem is that their mechanics are not yet good enough to consistently jump off the wall and hit the ball, so they end up a lot of times failing to save shots that would have been easy aerial saves from the ground, or else they get weak clears and just pass the ball to the enemy for an easy goal, which is frustrating. I understand that in order for them to get better at wall defense clears they will need to practice them, but it would be nice if you could encourage them to get that practice in casual games rather than in competitive or tournaments until they feel they are getting consistent. All that said, I love your videos. I find them to be very entertaining and educational. Keep 'em coming!

i completely agree with what ur saying i’ve been seeing more pre jumps or instant challenges then ever. and i think it will lead to more ground play unless players adapt and get faster if u watch people that spam dashes like dark they out speed quite literally everyone but sometimes they mess up and all it takes it one mistake for a goal at that level of play so i think the new gameplay is going to even around getting speed off anything like zap dashes wall dashes maybe even ceiling dashes? would definitely be a comp movement not just for freetsyling i dont rly see high level ever getting slowed down or staying on the ground more but u never know

Ive seen a lot of people saying defense is just too good to enjoy watching at this point. But my question is what should or could the devs actually do about it? Like if they were to make a rocket league 2, would you want new features? Ive been thinking about it and cant really think of much in terms of adding features or mechanics for gameplay

Just this world championship id say there was an average of 3-4 goals per game across the whole tournament (just a guess could be more or less) which is just about the average of irl soccer/football, probably more, and people dont complain about defense being too good irl so i just dont really get it.

I'm not saying defense is too good to play or score... im saying a lot of people find RL to be much more boring now given how good the defense as gotten. Like squishy in the video says it's hard to do aerial plays now, which decreases entertainment. This is strictly from an entertainment standpoint. An example is wnba vs nba. Points are scored in the wnba, but many people find it not even close as entertaining as the NBA. My question was what could RL do in a potential sequel (because at the rate it's going, RL could very well die out) to make it more entertaining
