I had a father, but he was an abusive, self loving a-hole wo I haven 't seen since my 16th birthday as my mother kicked him out (not the first time). Probably the reason I'm in my early 40s and still have no family nor children, because I think I'm much like him and don't want to do the same to others.

And I just love that something like this was made to relate to as we walk through our garbage... We might never figure each other out but we talk about trying at least lol... His love and compassion for his father for who he is, rather than who he isn't, really chimes with my own experience. Addicts, dysfunctional, unusual, emotionally immature and off kilter, our parents are just people at the end of the day. If we can manage it, it's perfectly ok to forgive them and love them.

I was thinking of how could I have interviewed my dad. He did not have a sense of humour, but he laughed his head off at the Marx Brothers and Charlie Chaplin. He was not educated but he was smart. Nice to see Robert and his dad together and both are 'in it'. Wait, my dad took me to the library, to Sears, I "held the flashlight" while he tinkered with the car. He took us sledding, and the library and anywhere he went that was not work. He did talk all the time and told us the story of when he was bringing on of their horses back from the military in Romania, riding bareback. The horse curved and dad fell off. The horse came back and waited for him to get back on. My dad' parents were both deceased by the time he was 13. I think he told us everything cause he loved people and loved to teach things to anybody who would listen.

I took care of my dad in his last 20 years, 6 of those years with him struggling with Lewis Bodies. I was grateful to have experienced it, as hard as it was, because there is a great sense of peace and resolvement. To all Of the adults out there, revisit your parents, and give them requited love!! The reward for your persistence is humbling and will allow your existence to be at peace in your own final years.

RDJ is a LEGEND and not a single movie that he has worked in has been bad according to me he is just that kind of actor and person that every director is blessed to have on set,a man with a great heart and a beautiful journey of a life filled with ups and downs till now, but what makes him so great is that he didn't give up and rose again from his ashes burning brighter than ever like a pheonix and now we are going to see from where he gets all these brilliant qualities, can't wait to watch RDS and RDJ together in this beautiful documentary ❤️😇

I don’t know who’s more brilliant - Robert Downey Sr or his son’s therapist who seems to found a way to get his pampered movie star client into a session to “unpack” his feelings every other minute. That therapist must be making a mint off of this guy! For his next documentary send Jr and son to the projects in the South side of Chicago! I’ld like to see those therapy sessions.

Due to having had the very good fortune of being Jon Favreau's Hapoy Hogan stand in and photo double on a few movies, I've also had the very good fortune of working with Robert Downey Jr. a few days on a few movie sets. He had not met me or the Tom Holland stand in (this was on the set of "Spider-man: Homecoming"), but as he walked by us (we were in the hallway of a hotel floor in between takes) he tapped the Tom Holland stand in twice on his left shoulder and me twice on my left arm. After he got out of ear shot, the other stand in and I turned to each other and said in stereo "Well that was pretty cool!". On the set of Avengers: Infinity War, inbetween takes, he was talking to a few kid extras sitting on a park bench. Brianna, Gwyneth Paltrow's stand in, said to me "Look at the smile of the kid on the left". He was in Heaven because Tony Stark/Iron Man was talking to them. On the set of Captain America: Civil War, he was going up to Extras, shaking their hands, and saying "I'm Robert Downey Jr.".
