On the run from our band of heroes, Eggman has holed himself up in an abandoned castle. With a plethora of spikes, spinning chains, and maces to contend with, and a gathering storm that threatens to bring the ancient structures down, even the forest surrounding them is a treacherous place for any would-be do-gooder.

@@MDHDH-iy7nm well not really, it has some giant flaws, like the levels and platforming were NOT made for fast accelerating characters to do precise jumps on, its very frustrating and some levels are a mess to navigate, like Castle Eggman act 2.

The bridge part was my favourite because i didn't expected it, i was calmly gliding across the map, collecting power ups, rings and lives, once out of nowhere the walls start falling, leaving me with a single thing to do: *RUUUN!*

After failing at the ruins, Eggman decides that an abadoned castle would be a great way to try and intimidate the hedgehog's buddys and, in turn, robotisize the grand statues and squash that nedlemouse. Of course, some rain and living statues aren't enough to scare off the three, well Tails aside, but even then, Sonic fills him with courage and they race off the ruins-like castle. Swinging spike balls, bottom-less pits, living statues and crumbling floor are litered throught the surroundings, so traveling the place is real troublesome. Our three heroes are gonna have to watch out, or else...

I see that people aren't talking about the Firelink Shrine before the bridge segment enough... You reach it through the New Londo Ruins stairwell, and leave through the Lordran Bridge. Which is, in fact, the bridge to the next zone.

This game suffers a lot from me feeling cheated during first time playthroughs. But I always felt that even though Castle Eggman was a tough as hell stage for me to complete, every mistake I made there was 100% on me. (Such as me ignoring the four throwers thinking they would send me into a wall and going backwards...)

In terms of theming, Castle Eggman and Arid Canyon are the best and most unique zones in the game imo, they're the only ones with any unique style to them, Greenflower is just another generic Green Hill clone, Techno Hill is just Palmtree Panic Bad Future + Chemical Plant, Deep Sea is just a generic underwater ruins zone like Labyrinth, ect ect.
