The idea of mental purification in tapas was mediocre without carl jung and healing the wounds of inner child. None of them were purified as their shadow was suppressed. This is called bypassing spirituality. In yoga or meditation carl jung is must and first to start with by healing archetypes anima and animus. This completes the mental purification and without it ego is suppressed and turn into unconscious automated running program by faulty archetypes and so on. Modern yoga or meditation has never explored this but suppressed it bypassed it and entered spiritual experience. As a result kundalini syndrome or psychosis delusions. There also logical corrections needed from ones own logical fallacies after scrutinised them. Who would be that brutal honest to oneself ? Everyone feels they are logically perfect even idiots think it too. This process may take years to decade and this is most difficult part to do. Everything else are easy and generally achieved even the state of bliss. The only blocking thing the shadow caused by wounds of inner child. People just ignore this phase and never admit they are delusional in thinking or logically flawed. This is about the developing of left hemisphere the logical critical reasoning skills. The other is creative or divine hemisphere. Shiva jesus krishna etc never had done any shadow resolution work except the other part. All of them suppressed ego and bypassed spirituality or dimensions. Forced entries! You will understand how ego is tough to admit it was wrong. Even after making it transparent and clear! Narcissism is at core of every bakt or gods. Read study psychology and carl jung well.
