Location
This temple is in the town of Amaravathi, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Amararama Temple is located on the southern bank of the Krishna River and is of great significance.
Religious Significance
Amaraeswara Swamy temple is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras and hence holds great religious significance. The other five Pancharama Kshetras are Bhimeshwara in Draksharamam, Ksheeraramam in Palakollu, Kumararaman in Samalkot and Somaramam in Bhimavaram. Sage Narada advised Sage Sounakadi to take a daily bath in Krishna River and live there to attain salvation. A special significance of this temple is that Bhagawan Shiva self-manifested here in the form of Linga and even today grants wishes to all his devotees. It is said that Devotees who stay in this place for three days and worship Bhagawan Shiva would attain shivaloka. Devotees also visit this temple for Wealth and knowledge and relief from diseases. A great importance of this temple lies in the belief that Shiva would absorb any devotee dying here, hence the devotee can attain moksha. Anandam Prasadam is provided free of cost to all devotees visiting the temple.

Morning: 06.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M.
Evening: 4.00 P.M .to 8.00 P.M.
Rituals & Pujas
Daily abhishekam is performed between 6:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. on Kartika masam abhishekam timings from morning 4 A.M. to evening 5 P.M. Some rituals are:

4. Saswata Annadanam
5. Kathikamassa Abhishekam
6. Navagraha Abhishekam
7. Eka Rudrabhishekam

History
The temple was constructed in the 8th century when Buddhism declined. According to history, Guntur was an important Buddhist centre, but when Hindu Rajas took up the throne the focus was shifted. This temple near the Buddhist stupa is a witness for the fact that Brahmanism improved in the region. King of Chintapalli, Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu was a great devotee of Bhagawan Amareswara, he was the one who expanded and renovated the temple. He was mentally disturbed with the recourse to massacre of the Chenchus and came to Amravati to regain his mental peace. He devoted his entire life building Bhagawan Shiva’s temples and also shifted from Chintapalli to Amravati in 1796. He took the onus of building the temple and devoted all his money to the cause. Not only did he renovate the temple, but also appointed nine archakas to perform the daily rituals in reverence to great Bhagawan Amareswara Swamy and also provided for their lifelong livelihood needs.

By Air:The nearest airport is Vijayawada airport which is 59 KM away
By Train: Pedakurapadu is the nearest railway station to reach the temple.
By Road: frequent buses between Amaravati and Guntur are available
