Its a very fundamental question. My guru says things are predestined. But we do have freedom. He gives example of a man travelling in a train. If train is moving forward the man can walk inside train in opposite direction however as a whole he is moving forward only. As long as a man regrets that if I had done that it would have been better, he has to do Karma but the moment he is out of this illusion he can see the script. Till that point there is no script. Do your best. 🙂

To avoid that God “wrote” our timelines and we have to go through them like a pre determined roller coaster ride. 🎢 this makes perfect sense. I think basically it is the deeds or action you did in your past lives or this life make the script. But by good deeds or karma and bhakti we can make the changes in the script. The more closer to soul the better person we are and the higher we reach and the more closer to the soul, the more closer to God we are and the more closer to God we are the better human being we become.

Jeevan Sathyam, Jagath Mithyam - The jagath(world) becomes an illusion(mithyam) when the seeker realizes that the Self(Jeevan/atman) only exists and exists in everything. Until that is realized, the rest is referred as jagratha avastha and swapna avastha respectively. Avastha refers to suffering as long as the seeker is not freed from the vicious cycle of birth(jananam) and death(maranam) which no longer holds the key when the seeker awakens to see the Self existing in everything and realizing only the Self exists. Your genetic body and mind is the result of your past karma which is the very reason the individual wakes up every morning after sleep to dream around and act. Therefore to answer the question, Yes it is predestined as you now have the choice to create your own destiny.

When you'll try to do said thing you'll feel you're unable to sit or you have pain in your body parts, that will be your past karma coming up with 10× less intensity for clearing. And if with grace you keep doing it you'll have a nil karmic account one day.

For argument's sake: What all you do is predetermined. Some people doing sadhana and some not doing it is also predetermined. So saying 'if everything is predetermined, then why we should do sadhana etc.' is not right. Everybody is not going to follow that path. So whatever one does or doesn't can be considered as predetermined.
