Satyajit Ray's stories focused more on the idiosyncrasies of common man. I think only Abhishek Chaubey among the 3 directors of Ray Series understood that and played on that in an enchanting manner. But Srijit didn't understand that, I am OK with modifications in the story but not the executions. They way the two stories, Forget-me-not and Bahurupiya were presented, directed, edited and written, is absurd.

The original text of Devdas was very much sexually explicit for that time. Sharat chandra himself was ashamed after writing that piece of literature that he wrote a letter to a friend of his telling that he Won't publish the story as a novel. Therefore what Kashyap adopted had basically enhanced the character and the internal crisis of Dev in the film. But in Ray's story there was no mention of sexual angles and the way Mukherjee infused sex is quite imbecile, and about the budget, Ray himself worked his whole life on stringent budget, but still he delivered realistic prosthetics in Ashani Shanket, that is why I said that the director's intent becomes important here. Mukherjee is a lazy maker.

ভাল লাগল ইন্টারভিউ টা। তবে একটা বিষয় clear হলো না যে, কোন গল্প বা নভেল থেকে যখন চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণ হচ্ছে তখন তো তার মিডিয়াম টাই পুরো change হয়ে যাচ্ছে। তাহলে এখানে লয়ালিটির প্রশ্ন আসবে কেন?? সিনেমার স্বার্থে সেটাই করা উচিত যেটা সিনেমাটাকে একটা স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত পূর্ণত্ব দিতে পারে। সাহিত্যের প্রতি loyal থাকতে গিয়ে সিনেমার সাথে বেইমানি করা উচিত নয় কখনোই। নইলে তার মধ্যে না থাকে সাহিত্যের আনন্দ, না থাকে সিনেমার আমেজ ...... সাহিত্য আর সিনেমার এই সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ blending টাই আসল রসায়ন। ফেলুদা যখন ছাপার অক্ষর থেকে ক্যামেরার লেন্সে এসে পৌঁছায়, তখন তার প্রতি ততটুকুই গোঁড়ামি রাখা উচিত যতটুকু তার নির্যাসটা অক্ষুন্ন রাখে । তার বেশি একটুও নয়।

This person lies on the face like anything! He can’t take criticisms, and the strongest evidence is his defense against the criticism he’s facing here. There was no point bringing up DevD or Pather Pachali, or AK’s portrayals and usage of slangs. Slang has never been the central theme of Bengali (comparing with UP’s socioeconomic scenario, seriously!) literature, not that it is “good or bad”, but it is simply a misfit! উপায়হীন হয়ে লিখতে এলাম। সৃজিত বাবু প্রথমেই আপনাকে congrats Ray এর জন্য। Interview টায় আপনি বললেন DavD (and in other films) তে sex scene থাকলে লোকে খারাপ বলে না কিন্তু আপনি করলেই কেনো কয়েকজন খারাপ বলে (আমিও), আমার মনে হয় কারণ টা অনেকটা makeup 💄 এর মতো, আপনার করা makeup টা চোখে পরে, মনে হয় জোর করে দেখানোর জন্য দেখানো হচ্ছে makeup ta, ওনাদের টা তা মনে হয় না। এমন কিছু আপনার দেয়া থাকে যা organically মিশ খায় না। চটক ভালো , কিন্তু বোঝা গেলেই বিপদ। নতুন ধরনের Ray করার লোক ত বাংলায় এখন দুজনই আছে, এক আপনি আরেক ...

@@indiandaredevil7497 Baishe Srabon was the first step towards lunacy. I can never understand how one can romanticise violence and gore so much. And autograph was a horribly boring copy of Nayak. The only watchable Srijit movies are Jaatishwar and chotushkone(even if that film had its own share of lunacy)
