SRILANKAN Airlines Business Class Paris to Colombo | Airbus A330-300 | Trip report

On the one hand my European travels was coming to end. However, more excitingly, I've been so excited to fly SriLankan Airlines for the longest time.
I know a few content creators and influencers have been paying out on this airlines due to various factors, I wanted to fly with an open mind. Most importantly, I am a foodie and have heard truly glowing reports about the catering onboard and at the Colombo lounge.
So, welcome to my sad departure from Paris, France, back to Melbourne, Australia, via Frankfurt, Germany and Colombo, Sri Lanka.
For this flight, I was seated in 2A in business class.
Two meals were served on this sector and both were EXCEPTIONAL. The chicken curry wain was simply delicious and the vegetarian local breakfast was mind blowing. I would fly SriLankan Airlines again purely for the catering.
Pity about the seat in the sleep position. However, that's the only negative in an otherwise stellar flight.

I think it's unfair for smaller content creators as they don't allow us to be easily found. You are an exceptional tour guide/traveller. You explain everything in detail in a unique way that one wants to hear everything and with great admiration. That terminal at Charles De Gaulle is so beautiful with light, style, embellished, modern, clean. You just want to stay there for long. Sri Lanka Airlines how kind, loving and friendly the ground crew is and the cabin crew on board as well. Sorry to see that you encounter that difficult issue with the seat. You might want to send a letter to the president of the airline so that they can resolve the issue moving forward on their fleet in nice diplomatic way. I am sure they would take it to heart and fix the problem. Thank you for sharing your trip with us in the international community.

Just come across your channel and I loved your report. Being a German married to a Tamil, I can tell you that you have been served coconut chutney in the plastic container. Sambar is the curry in the foil container. I could live on dosa, vada, sambar and coconut chutney for the rest of my live. 😀

I'm a Sri Lankan but living overseas now. Some times back Sri Lankan airline was one of the best service provider. They bought the 1st A340s in Asia when A340s was introduced. But the government + management destroyed the airline and now its bankrupt & think the service level needed to be upgraded to the today's world. However its still exists even at loss. The drink you had at 18:50 in the video is called "King Coconut Water".

I have read a few articles on how the airline got to where it is now through mismanagement but what shines through is the genuine attitude of the cabin crew. They provided world class service with a smile. After flying with SriLankan Airlines I created a tagline for them, "come for the service, stay for the food". I absolutely loved the catering on board this flight. So much so, I am actually going to return and visit all of Sri Lanka because of my time on this flight. The Airbus A340 is still one of the most beautiful aircraft. Not economic in today's environment, but the 4 E fines with the perfectly proportioned wings and fuselage just looked so majestic. I imagine it would have looked so regal in SriLankan colours. The King Coconut water was seriously sooo nice. The cabin crew kept giving more and even laughed that I loved it so much. I was originally from Malaysia and we have coconuts but nothing like the King Coconut. The flavour is so unique and is really now my favourite airline beverage.

God almighty Bless srilankan airlines our poor airline ,yesterday I went to pick one of my friend who came From srilanka ,I saw srilankan crew I was happy and sad about them..they need good salary and more comfortable with their JOB ! I'm with you in this, that coconut drink. Yum! Ah, by the time you took this flight, the amenity kit has been changed to the Aigner one. Mine was "house branded". Aren't their meals some of the best single tray service ever? Omg... It's been yonks since I've had a vadai!

Flying with them soon Mel-Colombo return so thanks for making this video. I prefer your take on this to others, and I love that you are you. Good on you. The airline would have more bookings if they offered mattress toppers, and dare I suggest PJs. The flight from Mel is about 10 hrs leaving 5.30pm so sleeping is a given.

How wonderful! You are going to have an absolute ball. I absolutely agree that if the airline just invests a small amount into increasing comfort, then they'd have a truly 100% competitive product. I'm slowly in the process of editing the Colombo to Melbourne sector of my flight. Hope to have it done before you head off! My content and style is purely me. I don't watch a huge amount of other airlines or travel content creators because i want to create videos which reflect me and NOT other people.

Thanks for the report Tim, I have flown Srilankan Airlines on short haul only from Singapore to Colombo and really didn't get a good understanding of their offering. Your report has filled in a number of gaps. From what I have observed the hard product needs a serious upgrade. The seats look uncomfortable and the bathroom looked tacky. The food and the service appeared to be pretty good. I have considered them for long haul but I am still unsure as the bed looks uncomfortable. If I am flying for more than 10 hours then I expect all the boxes to be ticked which includes, catering, service, comfort and reliability. Good wine would be a bonus.

If UL long haul provided a mattress topper then this would absolutely solve the issue with comfort levels. Yes, the lavatory was in need of a very deep clean. Service and food definitely the highlight of my flight.

I love aviation catering and have consumed my fair share on different airlines in multiple classes over the years. So I like to think I know what I'm talking about. 😂 my brain was probably confused as we had just left Frankfurt during the short transit. 😂

Disaster... I will never fly again.. thought it was my final flight for life.. just like the broken mirror in your flight i was on a broken seat for 10.5 hours.. thought that flight was going to crash.. overhead bins were shaking like they were going to fall on your head..

Tim Mate!!!! I enjoyed the video and the food but when it came to breakfast, I could not understand a word you said as the NOISE LEVEL FROM THOSE BLOODY ENGINES were horrendous. Apart from that I could taste those curries you were eating. Cheers mate!

I am so sorry. The engine noise is significant and, unfortuantely, the quality of my lavalier is degrading. I will definitely look into purchasing new lavs and hope they aren't as bad for my next flights.

@@TimEatsandTravels Many thanks mate! No need to feel sorry about the noise. I don't think you could have done anything about it. Next time, I'd like to see a bit more footage of those yummy curries the Siri Lankan's are famous for. Hopefully in the next couple of years, I'd like to visit your country again. The last time I was there was in 1960, for a couple of days, when our ship stopped at Colombo Harbour. I dare say a lot has changed since I was last there, and all the places I remember are no longer in existence. I remember there was a lot of upheaval in what was then called Ceylon. Cheers mate!
