I have read garudapuranam in English complete. It deals with all subjects running into 1000 pages. Any book is written to read and follow good aspects. Majority are ignorant and thrust their ignorance on others as if they are correct and the authority on every thing...I pity them.

Hi D.A Joseph Sir...I have one doubt from our scriptures...Srimad Bhagavatham states that the entire Universe is about the size of an egg and that we are living in Bhu Loka region and within that Bhu Loka region we are living in Bharatha Kanda with is a part of Bharatha Varsha - one of the nine varsha's within Jambu Dwipa...like jambu dwipa there are several other dwipas and so on...but the modern science explains the cosmos in a different way...when we zoom the night sky with NASA's hubble space telescope, the view of the universe is totally different...Why is it so? Can you please explain this to me Sir? Thank You So Much...

if swami can explain what parts of puranams are allegorical in explanation and which parts are to be taken verbatim that will be very very helpful in understanding what the essense this purana conveys. i think swamy says one of the story in this purana is an allegory as defined by purana itself (puranjara person city episode).
