So to travel by train to Kashmir from Delhi, first one needs to catch a train to Katra, then get down and take all your luggage out and get it scanned, and then carry all your luggage again and board another train? And if somebody wants to travel just from Srinagar to Jammu, they still need to catch TWO trains?

We will soon see what travellers say about this arrangement where a family from Delhi travelling to Kashmir for vacationing needs to get down in Katra and then go through security checks with all their luggage and then carry those luggage again to board another train. All because the govt don't dare to run a direct train since they haven't been able to deal with a few militants after all the tall claims. 😁

2 main reasons of this cost: 1. Cost of construction of tunnels and bridges has to be recovered. A lot of money has been spent in making tunnels and bridges. 2. Vande Bharat trains are the trains for middle class and above population of the country. Amrit Bharat express is for poor class of the country. Each train has some pricing standard. This does not mean poor cannot travel in Vande Bharat but price standardization is necessary because it is found that hygiene sense(flushing toilet after use, not spitting gutkha etc.) improves as the person gets richer.

A bit of responsible reporting would go a long way with the public.. Otherwise, please state what about it is "state of the art" To me, that would be a Maglev/Hyperloop running at 500-700mph from Delhi to Srinagar.
