After 30 years on a motorcycle some health issues forced me to give them up. I bought a spyder back in June and I LOVE IT!! Its a completely different ride and you have to forget everything you know about riding a motorcycle. But once you do you will love it for the freedom and safety it offers. The only downside to owning one is that you have to allow extra time for anywhere you go because you will be stopped and asked a lot of questions about it no matter where you go...

Yeah I can see going for a 3 wheeler once age and health catches up to us and we still want the wind in our face and bugs in our teeth. I might end up with one myself in the near future. In general though I feel those just combine the the worst aspects of a car and a bike. You lose the protection and comfort you have while driving a car and the maneuverability you have by riding a bike. Plus if you have a pension to ride off of the pavement like I do 3 wheels suck on dirt roads more than 2 wheels in my opinion. Too wide and that 3rd wheel is always in the loose stuff in the center of the road. I had an ATC back in the day and it was fun and fine to ride on sand, desert hardpan and areas where there were no established trails but riding it down 2 rut dirt roads without eating it was a constant challenge.

I have a 2016 F3, but mine is loaded with everything a more expensive Spyder would have. Love it. It's a good jumping off point after riding 2 wheels which is what I did. My husband has a Harley TriGlide & it does not handle as well as my Spyder. I loved my motorcycle, but this is much better for someone my age - 71 & have had it for 3 years.

I had to give up riding the two wheels, when I got my left ankle braced up so I could walk without falling. I really missed that joy I felt when my wife and me were riding our bikes together. Getting a Can-Am brought that enjoyment back. I have gone on road trips and enjoyed the smooth ride and comfort. I was talking with a gentleman while on a road trip. Stopped to eat and he asked me how I liked riding my bike. Told him it was a great ride; asked him if he rode a bike. Told me that he was in an accident that broke his leg. That accident ended his riding day. When I went out to get back on the road, he was looking at my bike. I had parked next to his car. We talked about my bike and I explained why and showed him my brace. He thanked me and said he was going to go looking at a Can-Am. He wanted to get back in the saddle. So, they do help those who cannot ride a two wheel any longer.

Now, I moved into a 2019 Vulcan S. I’ve got a couple Harley riding cousins actually upset for me. One of them told me I had 24 hours to return it and started sending me used ads for HD’s. When I was a younger rider I always enjoyed hanging out with Harley folk on my travels. They were cool. Most at that time, would have started out on small Honda's. We had our preferences but there was no prejudice. These days with the younger riders, all I get is attitude at best and often just plain being ignored. Harley's have gone from being a motorcycle where we're all brothers and sisters on the road; to a religion . Sad.

I work in these things and they are fun as a rider. For added stability you can upgrade the sway bar. For people who are looking for three wheeled trikes I always recommend spyders. Having a sway bar in front vs in rear makes a huge difference! Also noticed that this model did not have a cruise control. Most I roadsters I believe does. If your trike does not have one it can be fitted with one. It’s a bit of a job but since everything is controlled by wire it’s just plug and play. By the way these things have electric power steering so it’s easy steering when bike is running.

I went from 20+ years of bikes, last one being a VTX1800, to an F3-S and love it. It's a lot of fun. "Fast" U-turn and you'll get it on two wheels without a problem. You can easily drift it on cold tires, traction control be damned. Once they're warmed up, it'll hold the road well through corners at high speed. Turn off the traction control and you can very much be a hoonigan. Very comfortable for long distance. Pretty big after-market so you can definitely make it your own. He's right in that it takes adjusting to the feel of it, you really have to lean into the turns or it feel real weird, no hand brake throws you for a while, but I'm hooked.

I've ridden bikes for 50yrs, and now I'm considering a Can-Am for longer trips. Big touring bikes are heavy and eat up rear tires too quickly. I'm sure you'd get twice the mileage or more on the rear tire. The pegs are adjustable, and I sat on an F3T recently and the seat was ALL day comfortable...👍😺

I'm a huge fan of the 2 wheelers, but I love the Spyder so much more than I would have expected. The Ryker is even more raw (and more fun in my opinion) so I now own a Ryker Rally to go with my Versys 1k and Zero S. Truthfully if I could only have one I would likely keep the Ryker. It feels like a Jetski on land. The only issue is touring capability is pretty limited (which the Spyders excel at), but I haven't gotten into that at all as you could guess by the bikes I own. It might not be the fastest thing, and there is something truly liberating about leaning into a turn that is missing, but once you ride a Spyder/Ryker around and push it through some low-speed corners, you will be grinning more than you would have ever guessed you would. Seriously, the Ryker would sell like crazy if everyone had the ability to test ride it. I rode one back-to-back with a Polaris Slingshot and while I still think the Slingshot is cool, the Ryker is 100x more fun.

A big part of why like this video, although the bike is amazing, is that the dude riding/narrating seems very cool, polite, respectful, and intelligent. My wife and I are going to get one of these for 1 reason only. I have a deteriorating spine and can no longer ride 2 wheels safely so this is my only option. Lots of negativity on here about who will be buying these and why you would ride one. The guy who asked if he needed help was nicer than most of you but I really don’t care. I’ll buy this so we can still ride and be outside before I’d let anyone of you with the crappy attitude stop me!

I was paralyzed in 2000 then in 2015 bought the Spyder F3. It was the best fit for me. Couldn't believe what I was missing not riding. It filled a void I didn't realize was there until I rode it out through the farmlands in the evening, smelling the fields, and getting hit by bugs. Love every minute of it. Since then I've owned a Tilting Motor Works Road King, a Hayabusa trike, 2016 F3 Limited, plus a few Harleys that I was going to trike out (to much to trike). Now I'm back to a base F3. I don't need the hard bags or radio. I prefer looking through the windscreen and seeing more road and the minimalistic gauges. Everyone is different that's what makes the motorcycle community great. Wether your bike ranges from A to Z, Aprilia to Zero, 2 or three wheels, get out and ride. Life is to short to be watching it out of a window. Everyone be safe and just have fun

My husband and I visited the Can Am production plant in Valcourt Canada for the 10th Anniversary of the Spyder. We got to see where and how they are assembled, we talked with technicians and had several questions answered. It was a great experience. By the way we rode our F3’s from Georgia to Valcourt Canada. They handled great going through the mountains in WV and in the rain and cold weather in Montreal. My husband was in an accident back in 2018, when an 18 yr old made a left turn in front of him. They met headlight to headlight. Thank God he was on his F3T, he survived but the F3T did not. I would recommend the F3 always.

It's a personal question, so forgive me if you mind me asking, but did you get disabled because of riding a motorcycle? I've been doubting for a long time to ride motorcycle, my financial situation is also what has kept me from doing so, but the dangers is also what seems to go against my common sense. Although I have no doubt I would enjoy riding motorcycle once I would get into it. Can AM is still more dangerous than a regular car of course, but probably a lot less dangerous then riding motorcycle especially if you wear riding gear as well.

One thing you missed, and it is a major one, is that when you are upshifting don't let off the throttle. If you want to accelerate hard, like you were doing, keep it WOT, hit the button for gear changes and let the machine handle the shift. You don't need to back off the throttle like you do on a "normal bike". That is according to the Can-Am Demo truck driver.

I have a 2015 Can Am Spyder F3 this time last year. My Spyder has the windshield, the previous owner had installed one of those crappy little storage spaces behind the rear seat. Yea, no key for it so I keep nothing in it except little things. The seat does have the back rest which helps tremendously as I am a disabled veteran and need the support. My Spyder F3 has the manual transmission, which I really like. I had been riding motorcycles for almost 40 years, sold my last one 6-8 years ago due to my back being so messed up. I told my wife that before I died I would have another big bike, she wasn’t happy but I was determined. I had looked at a handful of 2 wheelers but they really weren’t what I was looking for. Then I saw an advert for this Can Am that now sits in my car port for a really good price. The Can Am F3 being on my bucket list of bikes to own since they came on the market. Price was always a factor though, when this one came available I was all over it. I am not sorry one bit getting the F3, o love this bike the 1330 Rotax motor is a beast. I have been up to 100 mph with a lot left in the throttle if I were 30 years younger I would see what it has by top speed. A little older and a little wiser now days. I need to get a new battery for it which I hope to do next week once all the rain has passed us by. Livin the dream!

I’ve been riding motorcycles for about 26 years now, and a few years ago my wife wanted to start riding with me but she hates riding on the back. She bought a Yamaha v-star 1100 custom, against my advice as it was too big and heavy for a first motorcycle. Within a few months she had more than one mishap that cost a lot in repairs and eventually she agreed to sell it and got a Can Am Spyder F-3. She got the matte black version which looks absolutely awesome. She totally loves it, and has been riding it with no issues for a few years now. I’ve written it a handful of times and although it feels quite unnatural, here’s something I definitely see I could get comfortable riding with enough time. It’s certainly a fun enough bike to ride. And it’s fast when you want it to be!

I owned a Can Am, drove it for over 50,00 miles. Took me almost 6 months to get used to it, didn't handle like the 2 wheelers. Motion sickness almost made me sell it. Wish I had. Your assertion that the tires last long is not true. Mine was replaced about every 7K to 10K miles, and I hardly ever drove mine hard. Everyone I knew with a Can Am experienced the same problem with tires. And, mine was a nightmare, the 2 year warranty was exercised more often than I can count. I took it to the shop with something wrong about every 6 months. I spoke with a Can Am representative once about my problems, his comment was "some people have no problems and others are plagued with failures. No one knows why." That was when I decided to make a change, and the warranty was gone which meant that all of those repairs would soon be my problem, out of warranty. And, your comment that you couldn't get yours to lift a wheel, mine did that too often for me. Think about it for a minute. And exactly why did Can Am instigate the stabilizing controls? They knew it was unstable and that was how they solved the problem. I traded for a Honda Goldwing trike, smartest decision I ever made. It never, ever lifts. And I push it sometimes, harder than the Can Am. Haven't had any repairs, the rear tires are originals with another 50K miles. Front tire wears a little too fast, wish there was a car type tire I could put there, but there isn't. And if I do decide to sell it, most Goldwing trikes like mine are selling for more than what I paid!! The Can Am sold for less than half. Watched your video because I was just curious. But I gotta call Bull crap on most of what you wrote. Good luck with your Can Am, but I suspect you'll regret it and go back to a real trike.

Next week we'll have someone trying to explain that we have pencils because without them paper would be lonely. After all, paper comes from trees and pencils come from trees, therefore, without trees making the pencils the paper would have to go back to the tree and borrow sap to write a letter and this way if someone, say living in Russia, needs paper but has a pencil they can get together with another country that also has a pencil and together they can find another country that has paper and no pencil. This would help all the school kids in those countries be able to spell words like pencil and paper. ROFLMAO

The F3 is sporty, quick and responds quickly. Austria is in Europe, a beautiful country with friendly people. I test rode a Spyder years ago, then a Ryker two years ago and a new F3 a week ago. I like the F3, it is comfortable, and responsive. The only drawback I found is the steering is very touchy, it will take more time on it to get used to it. The turn signals shut off automatically and having a screen to see the gas gage and other information is great. I highly recommend the F3 but add a windshield for highway riding, I like how they keep the wind from buffeting the rider. The front trunk also has a little issue, since you have to turn the key and use your other hand to open the trunk at the same time, hard for smaller riders to de. It is easy to learn how to ride it. The rear tire is the one that usually has the most wear. Have fun.

You are right about the stability of the Can Am over the Trikes. Sorry to say I have ridden several Trikes and it is when not IF you are going to get a wobble. I demonstrated to a Harley Salesman much to his thoughts that you can induce a wobble very easily, simply hit a big pot hole with one of the rear tires, then hang on for dear life. Have Pulled Hacks for the best part of 35 years, and yep they do somewhat the same, they are not near as bad. Made a mistake and sold my BMW and hack when a guy offered me way more than I thought it was worth and regret it constantly. Wife wants a Can Am RT, just being retired don't want to chance it right now with the present President destroying the economy. My present TOY is a motorized bicycle with a homemade side car, the grandkids love it, and the kids seem to always have to take there kids for a ride.

If we were in the same room I could show you the physics and advantage of two wheels up front on a trike, over two wheels on the back. There's a reason why we outlawed rear two wheel three wheeled ATV's. One disadvantage is that you condition yourself to steer in the direction you want to go on a trike, and it may affect your counter-steering in an emergency on a 2 wheeled bike.

Forty odd years as a motorbike rider. I rode one of these for a 60 mile trip and was never so glad to give it back. NOTHING like a real motorbike. Bloody dangerous was my only thought. At 1.47 when he says he couldn't get it to 'Two Wheel' I spat my coffee. Mate I had that outside wheel up in the first couple of corners. Were you doing over forty miles an hour? Try a 90-leftie at thirty and keep twisting the stick, I reckon it would flip right around there. Maybe grandmas and softcocks might enjoy this style going to church on Sunday or shopping . It does hold a lot of groceries in the pannier compartments.

I really don't want to have a conversation with her and crush her dreams but I also don't want her to end up a pink stain on the road. This looks like a great alternative for her.
