I feel there's different levels to getting an eye test named after you: Ishihara: I've worked out a way of diagnosing colour blindness that works quickly and painlessly and across all languages, even with people who can't read. Schirmer: Poke em in the eye and see how much they cry

Eye health needs more attention than it currently gets. Optometrists seem to be the forgotten few imo. We hear about doctors and nurses and how they contribute massively, which is fine, but I never hear anything about the work pharmacists or optometrists do.

@@SRPASMR certainly! I've personally been to the doctor's for my eyesight several times because of my headaches, but i know that eye health is very neglected 😅 even if there is an obvious issue

@@SRPASMR I had a hole in my cornea so anything coming in there just turned into flashing lights, was super uncomfortable. The eye doctor used a laser to weld it, I guess? Was fixed in a minute, the laser did feel like a needle going in and out super fast, yikes. I got a whole lot of respect after that 😁

Since I was a kid, Optometrist appointments always got to me in the same way ASMR gets me. That is why I love your video so much, you are an optometrist and can recreate that experience, through your own experience. Thank you for making such amazing videos, that give me tingles everytime.

Yes! A good optometrist makes all the difference in a young kids life. A trip to the office for new glasses was always one I looked forward to. I was sick all the time as a kid so it was like a treat to go to a doctor and not feel like death plus it was so relaxing. As a kid I called it “feeling comfortable”, watching Bob Ross was like taking a trip to your eye doctor.

There’s a fair degree of foreign body sensation but it should not make contact with the cornea.

I have had that test.. It is 5 minutes of misery. There is a chemical on the strips that irritate your eyes so that they produce tears. Lack of proper tear production is a serious problem. If anybody starts feeling like their eyes are constantly gritty or have difficulty blinking please see your eye doctor.

I have two suggestions? I don't know what to call them. Not quite requests. Firstly, could you include hypothetical questions from the patients that you would then answer? I often fill the silence with questions regarding what the doctor is doing. For example, "if 21 is good for tear production, then what's too high? What's too low?" And instead of airing the question, you'd simply supply the answer. It would probably take a little bit of planning, unless you could draw on experience from actual patients. Secondly, is it possible for some of these tests to do a self-evaluation? I know you've done active participation with other people before but what I'm suggesting is literally doing vision tests on yourself. It might not work for asmr, but I thought it was a neat idea.
