You are right, my friend. "#1" was an extention of him and that guitar should have been buried with him too. They don't make musicians/guitar players with this much soul and integrity, these days anymore. SRV played REAL guitar!!! Guitar players these days use too many effects, stomp boxes, and digital pedals to try to make their music sound good. I think using too much digital effects ruins the music, to a degree (definitely makes live shows SUCK when they don't play real instrument and just jump around on stage with a microphone). Today, music awards go to folks like, "Pharrell Williams" who thinks they are actual musicians by pressing buttons on a computer/effects processor and making a few beats with a drum machine (SMH,). SRV is what we use to call, "real RAW talent".

SRV really "paid his dues" in the early days, playing in bars and clubs for next to nothing. The first time I saw SRV was in a reception hall in 1983. The stage was a foot high and I was 3 ft in fromt of him. He was hardly known then. One of my friends said he heard SRV was a good blues player and we should go since tx were just $5.. And after watching Stevie go off on all his solo spots , I realized Stevies eccentricity is the factor. So coupled with the fame and eccentricity , he is a chicken that does not know what to do. He toted the gun of righteousness in his soul as a humanitarian spreading love and encouraging others to do the same while entertaining with a guitar lick that came straight from the powers that be, Jesus Christ. He was a Christian and loved his fans. He overcame so much and Heaven is all the richer to have him. Thanks for all the love you passed our way. RIP SRV. Missed greatly. Fabulous Fox Theater Atlanta, Georgia Dec. 31st, 1986. Ringing in 1987 with SRV, Double Trouble, BB King and Special Surprise guest, and SRV influencer, Lonnie Mack. Stevie, fresh out of rehab introduced himself as Mr. Clean. I was there and he left it in shambles! Greatest concert ever. Forever grateful for the memories.

Quality that is perfection, hard to describe, full sound, perfect sound too, perfect play, technically and musically, raw power, no empty repetition, such amazing variation, the fluidity, tremendous build-up, then pause and a break of the voodoo train and then start again, so much control, and so FREE, oh my oh my ... the best version of voodoo child and if not so then certainly on an equal footing with Jimi's. Oh yes, the other musicians are absolutely great too to make this happen, thank you

SRV is the greatest guitarist to ever walk the earth, hands down. nobody could interface with a guitar like that man did. it was like a part of his body. people love to show off technical skill and talk about how fast they can play this and that, SRV could do all that but didn’t maximize how technically difficult something was, he just put all of his soul into making his music as mind blowing as it is. nobody could, or can currently, play guitar as well as SRV could, period.

The first time I ever heard his music, it was live. A friend said to me he reckoned I would like it, so I bought a ticket and went. Never heard a single recording up to that point. In fact, got to the venue in the afternoon, found an open door and went in. The band came on stage to sound check (20 minute rendition of Mary had a little lamb) and I walked up and stood at the front of the stage.... So the first time I ever heard SRV play, he was standing 10 feet in front of me in an empty auditorium. The memory is burned into my brain such that it still gives me chills when I recall it, almost 40 years later.
