It seems like the mangas and Super Robot Wars have opposing ideas about what the Getter Rays seem to want. The Getter Rays in the manga seem to not care about who gets consumed in the struggle for evolution, and they end up turning humanity into the most dangerous race in the universe, with Emperor itself being the enemy of all other living things. But in Super Robot Wars, they seem to be a touch more benevolent, and dislike species that are just "consume everything and monopolize all the resources", and Emperor can almost be seen as a protector. Perhaps it's simply that the Getter Rays work differently in the SRW multiverse. I'd almost imagine it possible for multiple Getter Emperors to exist, just each from a different multiverse.

I don't get it, what is Getter Emperor ? I did some research before, but, from it, I though it was somekind of distopic future Getter antagonist. While right now, it sounded more like an heroic cosmic-size titan.

Getter Emperor is the concept of evolution materialized and manifested as a Lovecraftian form. It jumps from universe to universe, kills EVERYTHING that is not human, eats literally everything, takes all human souls, and then jumps into another universe. It uses humans as its foot soldiers and servants until its eventual complete manifestation in a prey universe. Humans feel genuine extacy while serving it. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is up to your interpretation. The writer died before clarifying it.

Emperor isn’t known what it is nor it’s goals, it’s power is immense and favoring humanity has led the rest of the universe to see it as evil incarnate. Whether it is the will of humans that makes it evil or it’s own influence seems unknown. Recent interpretations seem to lean on that it’s a neutral entity that reacts to the will of humans and thus if the humans before it choose to the evils it causes could be stopped. The horror aspect comes from being the one to face it and seeing the galactic genocide it causes as well as to reach it humanity underwent a terrifying evolution fusing with machinery and destroying each other to survive under the watch of Getter Saint Dragon. However that horror may not be what it seems, it may have been a result of the changes conditions of earth that for humans to survive they must fuse with machinery and the competition of evolution took over becoming a survival of the fittest. The horror comes from seeing it and it’s actions without knowing why as only one took the time to learn why without becoming one with getter
