Watching Final Dancougar in all of its glory is made even better by having seen the series. You can tear up a bit knowing that they spared Alan for this game, then you can marvel at them giving the martial arts nod to Ryo for the punch attack, and listening to Shinobu shout to boost the team's morale, watching building-sized beams fly everywhere, and Dancougar stand in victory as an impassable wall of fury (it swiped battalions out of the sky with its arm in the anime series; the enemy faction was ill prepared for the Cyber Beast Force's trump card), all knowing that they put incredible care into crafting the essence of the series for this game. The original series has a lot of heart to it, too, if you have a taste for drama. All of the characters, even the cast of villains, have personal stakes in the war and care strongly about their ties to friends and family. I love this show. I'm glad I watched it 8 years ago. ❤

Hey, in the anime that sword throw killed a god. On his home turf, where reality itself bent to his will. I believe it's the only attack in all of mech anime history that can claim that(though Shinobu definitely owes Simon some props for the sincerest form of flattery). NEVER underestimate the power of hotblooded anger.

Speaking of Shinobu spelling it out, he spells it out "D A N C O U (G A)" in the mech's transformation sequence so...yeah, it's Dancouken.

Well, you were probably right not to use it in 4, it wasn't that good and depending on your choices you'd lose it forever (or was that 4S?) It's been solid in pretty much every other game though, and outright broken in OE, GC/XO, and Alpha 1.

Dude all i know is Dancouga Nova maybe the newer and some people may find dancouga nova cool but imo... Original one is still x 10 better and original dancouga will destory nova anytime :D Oh please it may have god mode or beast or some shit like that But Shinobou and crew will kill nova :D

Since the energy output of Dancouga is tremendously increased after combining into Final D, normal Dankuuhou is pretty much Dankuuhou Formation used in earlier versions that don't have the Final D.

That would be like the Shin Getter/Dragon combination where they cut a planet in half. I wish SRW would do some more cross series combination attacks that aren't Final Dynamic Special. It's be great to see a combination attack between the UC gundams in V. Best opportunity to get a Z, ZZ, Nu and Unicorn combination going.

I find the number of people who go "DANCOUGA IS SO AWESOME YATTE YARUZE" in this comment box to be absolutely hilarious, because I doubt that even half of the people who say that actually watched Dancouga. Good show, yes. Horribly animated, occasionally extremely stupid (TRICERATOPS), and glacially paced? Also yes.

What else do you want? The animation in the main series suffered due to budget limitations because of bold ideas and a somewhat smaller studio. Macross and Nue had the same problem when its budget was going under, but then again that led to an awful legal mess that still goes on to this day... but regardless! Dancouga still had some awesome ideas and pulled them off exceedingly well. and with absolute certainty I can say I'm proud to consider it a classic mecha anime. Plus the OVAs were awesome. 'Nuff said.

I fail to see how it's any better than Nova, though. I watched both, there's really not much there that makes it better. And as for the OVAs... the first one is great, yes, as is the movie, but Blazing Epilogue? Na, that's shit.

Yeah i should have worded that better honestly. It's not necause new mecha series are all nad per se i mean we did get E7 in srw not too long ago. It's just sometimes newcomer series can be super hit and miss sometimes and occasionally they'll happen to put in something a lot of people outside of japan aren't at all into and that's just how it is with a lot of media sometimes
