Very interesting interview. .. My husband served in the US Army for over 24 years. He was assigned to Germany 3 times. We never stayed in American hotels only on the economy. Unfortunately, the Germany we enjoyed during those tours is now gone. You could start to feel the difference during our last tour ending in late 1989. The Germans started pushing more for less American military personnel. Then when this happened, they wanted more money from the USA because of the economic downturn. Businesses dependent on military personnel like gasthaus near American bases lost a great deal of money. Places where American military personnel visited a lot like B'Gaden, Garmisch and the Black Forest saw a decline as well. Now Germany is turning their backs on the farmers. Migration is a huge problem. I don't think I would feel as welcome as before or as safe.

I recently found why the Kaiser did not renew Hindenburg's entente with Russia, he thought that for the continued commercial and industrial success of the nation it would be preferable for Germany to be ally with the US rather than with Russia. It was not a mistake, the Kaiser's choice was perfectly logical, he just did not know how much money the Wall Street bankers had lent to Britain and France, insane amounts, and that if Germany had won, they would lose everything, that is why the US joined the Entente and completely messed the fragile balance of power established in the course of the war, giving an artificial victory to the Entente countries, and an unexpected crushing German defeat, allowing the vengeful victors to abuse German society so viciously and completely, making another conflict almost inevitable in the not so distant future. Those who claim that Germany bore the whole responsibility for starting WW2 better study the events that led to that terrible war, especially the Versailles farce, the world did not begin on the day Germany invaded Poland.

I believe the use of the honorarium "Von" is incorrect. The "Von" was added to the family name by the ex-champagne salesman father.

Rudolf was a brave and respected soldier, well loved and admired by his men. In Normandy he commanded the 3rd Panther company and after hostilities ceased his men held regular meetings in his honour.

I miss the question, how come that his mother did not tell him we don't kill innocent people just becouse they were not born in your country. A very good interview to support younger generation arrogance and ignorance. He missed to ask him in which way SS criminals used to buckle their shoes though.

They were complicit and can never argue that they were not directly involved in atrocities, or just taking orders. You can always say no to murder. Here in Australia we are in the painful process of prosecuting about 20 SF soldiers who shot innocents in Afghanistan, one a VC winner. As a signatory to the ICC, it was either that or the ICC would have done it. Aggressive war is state sanctioned murder. If you pull the trigger, you have to take the consequences.

G'day, Yay Team ! Well said... Are you familiar with the phenomenon of Townies with Guns Going "Hunting" By driving around the "Ring-Roads" which connect the Radial lines of the Highways and secondary Roads surrounding Inland Country Towns, for a distance of about 25 miles from the Post Office...; starting At Dusk and continuing Till midnight or thereabouts ? The Shootin' Trips when No Feral Rabbits, Cats, Foxes, Goats, Pigs or Deer Appear To stand still for to be Shot at...; So then When the Booze starts to run out, And the Great White Hunters swallow the Need to turn around and head home...; But they can't bear to unload without shootin' At least SOMETHIN'...! So if there be no Protected Native Fauna, like Wallabies, Kangaroos or Walleroos, Possums or Emus available for Live Target Practice..., Then they will commence Shooting at Sheep, Cattle, Horses..., And bloody near EVERY ROADSIGN they pass on the Way back home... To vent their frustration At Having FAILED To have Found any Legitimate Quarry...? Are you familiar with THAT type of Traditional Sporting Australian Shootin' Expedition ? To me, it Appears That the Warrant Officers in the SAS and Commando Regiment...; Enoughof them to have caused the SAS Squadron to be disbanded For SHAME..., Were treating their Patrols looking for Insurgents Like they were a mob of Drunken Undisciplined Rednecks..., Illegally shooting Livestock and Roadsigns All the way home... Rather than bring back Unused Ammunition, Having Hunted nothing and Killed nothing. Apparently, because there weren't enough Roadsigns in Absurdistan... Ben Robert-Smith VC & his Fellow "Operators" Seem to have "Had to" use Afghan Civilians for something to Shoot at..., Before going back Without having fired a Shot. I grew up in Glen Innes. I was Captain of the Chevalier College Bowral Rifle Team in 1978. From 1985-'87 all the meat I ate, I'd shot. I've been paying Rates on the hundred acre Endangered Species Sanctuary within which I reside, since 1990. I know quite a bit about Bullet-riddled Roadsigns on the Backroads of Oz... And, To me Y'see, The patterns of behaviour are clear To see. Familiarity breeds contempt, Especially For (self) Restraint...; Whether it be Sheepshooting and Perforating Roadsigns on a Saturday night, Or Dropping Retarded Afghan Goat-herders To Relieve the Strain.... Of Playin' Professionally In a Game of Blood, For which they ALL Volunteered. Except the Goat-Herder...; Apparently. Rule Britannia, Eh What ? (!). They gave out a Victoria bloody Cross, For THAT ? And Of COURSE, NO Officer has Bin-Prosecuted..., Neither for knowingly Covering that-all Shit up, Nor for being INCOMPETANTLY UNAWARE Of what was Underfoot and Under way and Ongoing...; across 12 YEARS Of playing Hopscotch in the Minefields of Absurdistan To please Unkle Spam, Thus the better to Prop up ANZUS... Rule Britannia, In Bloody Deed ! Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
