Ehh, I didn’t like how Toon Link’s respite looks. The OG One looks far better and they even removed some Crusade elusive moves that Toon Link originality had. Overall I’m disappointed that Crusade is now going to look exactly like SSF2.

@@kirbyplier I think the OG one looks terrible. Animations are so stiff, limited and lifeless and it stuck out like a sore thumb compared to every other character with noticeably smoother animations. They might've taken away some moves but it was in favor of adding more unique ones that took more from specific source material. Lastly the game hasn't reached a point where it looks too similar to smash flash, and even if it did, it still plays differently. So I don't see a problem.

​@@tinyclover3849 I still disagree, the OG sprite look perfectly fine, sure it’s not one of the best/smoothest sprites, but it did well on representing the character and it’s a great Pocket/GBA sprite, which btw Crusade was well known for. The other one just looks way too overglorified, with too much unnecessary animation and overall the sprite as a whole doesn’t look like Toon Link (it actually looks more like those Super Deformed redesign from, various pieces of fan art to me). Plus they didn’t add more unique moves just to replace the Crusade exclusive moves (which were already unique to begin with), instead they just used various moves from the official smash games (especially ultimate), yeah we’ve saw evidence throughout the trailer that the Devs are remaking their characters to be less unique and more like smash ultimate. It’s ashame really, I liked the various ideas Crusade had, it really did stand out compared to the Nintendo Smash games and SSF2, but seeing how they’re just only taking ideas/inspiration to Ultimate and SSF2 is just unfortunate. Also how do they not look like SSF2 sprites? Seriously Most newer Crusades Sprites literally look like they have the exact same artstyle/overglorification as SSF2’s sprites. Anyways I’ll stick to the v0.9.1 version of Crusade, which is my favourite version, since this came out before Crusade SSF2ifided their sprites (I might even try out v0.9.2 since the resprites here look neat).

@@kirbyplier the only sprites that come close to SSF2's detail are Fox and Falco's, but other than that the standard isn't the same. I'd have to go way more into detail with the differences between Crusade's artstyle and Smash Flash's but that would warrant an analysis better than a youtube comment tbh. Regardless you still make a lot of fair points. But I'm still gonna have to disagree. The old toon link sprite itself is fine, but it's the animation that brings it down. The new sprite might not retain the GBA charm but it's an upgrade in quality when every character on average has more frames in each attack than he did. Sure I wasn't there for the beginning, so everything could've been that choppy for all I know. But not to mention this also came at the price of him feeling sluggish to play. And old Toon Link had a lot of smash's moves too like an identical F-Smash with his old one at the time when it got replaced here with a more unique skull hammer. And his up air which was also identical to Ultimate Toon Link's up air was at least given a touch with the fire rod which takes more from different material. I can see why the old one has charm as it represents an older time, but I'm happy that the quality standard has gotten higher. The game hasn't lost its identity just because a few characters were updated to be smoother. I still prefer Crusade to Smash Flash 2 and even Ultimate at this point, and I don't think that's changing anytime soon.

I don’t know how you think that the newer Sprites don’t look like SSF2, but I know that Fox And Falco aren’t the closest to copying SSF2’s style, that Definitely goes to Sonic, Yoshi, Pikachu, Toon Link, etc (I also dislike the Weegee resprite the most out of the other respites, but that is for a different reason). Anyways the Old Sprite of Toon Link still had the Skull Hammer And Various other moves that differ to the Main smash games, the only brand new move that the respite had was a different final smash (where is basically just the same final smash as ultimates, but with 4 Toon Links). As for being “Sluggish” to play, I don’t think most characters here felt awful to play as, even if the Sprite wasn’t decent back then, it didn’t really affect gameplay.

Balloon Fighter looks sick, I love how he can sacrifice one of his balloons for a powerful finisher and that final smash has all of that brawl-level zaniness a final smash should have. The fact he has a taunt that references Iwata is cute too

Fun fact: Balloon Fighter was made for an old fanmade forked build called Crusade Minus. I guess after that got cancelled, it was incorporated into "official" Crusade.

I don’t play Crusade but I found this really fun to watch as if it were an actual Smash Direct, Balloon Fighter as a playable character is incredibly based and looks very unique and a lot of fun, Dark Link looks cool and badass, Scizor is amazing addition because Smash itself lacks Insectoid type characters, that Fantasy Zone stage is gorgeous, during the Banjo showcase the Ashley Gruntilda skin looked wicked and is very cool reference! There’s so much love and passion put into this!

I really thought you guys were going the crazy path and adding Dark Toon Link too 😂 Secondly, the additional newcomers are awesome! I love your guys method. You guys truly add who you want. You could have chosen the 20 pokemon from the smash games to backport but you go with your own vision and I love that! Once ZSS gets added, all this game really needs is DoomGuy, Isaac, Crono, Ryu Hayabusa (cuz I’d like more swordies) a Touhou rep, and a few popular Smash veterans (like Zelda & King Dedede) and it’s fucking perfect.
