Learning stenography skill will take time for sure... neither easy nor difficult concept...I suggest before start learning enquire and cross check with already learnt people or proper institute guidance. If you want to check yourself just try this - as per Chandru sir's calculation within 6 months how can one master the skill ? Firstly buy a pitman book if it has 231 exercises divide it with 4 becoz within 4 months you should finish all the exercise and 2 months for speed passage practice. So you should finish 58 exercises per month if you can do it within a month then continue the process or change the decision without a second thought (All this things will applicable only for those who want to clear and join within a year others can learn stenography with interest and ready to invest time). I'm not against Steno skill I'm learning it for last one and half years...Steno is a very good field once you skilled it definitely you will get a Government job but the only thing is you should work hard in this sector also and of course competition is there so I can't agree with the term "EASY"...my only concern is one should not invest their time without knowing about Steno skill. All the best for the future officers
