Best review I've seen on an SSC. I recently got myself a 613, the one with the yellow chrono hand and gold-ish dive timer on the bezel. I absolutely love it! Planning to put it on a Strapcode endmill bracelet. Keep up the good work!

Been looking at this watch for a while now. This is the best review so far. I like the start of the video when you show the watch on your wrist doing daily stuff. Gives a good idea of what it really looks like.

Are you left handed? I noticed you were wearing your watch on your right hand wrist. Just wondering.

I was under the impression that the 24 hour dial was initiated with starting the timer function - then, from your comments I'm not sure - don't make no sense ta me that it wouldn't work in conjunction with the timer function - I WAS planning on purchasing this watch on the 24th of this month - I'll be financially capable at that time - but not at all sure I wanna go ahead on that if the 24 hour timer is not in tune with the chrono function - looking forward to your reply - and Thank You Very Much for your review --- Snortin' Morton

The 24 hour subdial is connected to the hour hand on the clock, and cannot be used independently of the clock. The chronograph only goes up to 1 hour. The bottom subdial counts the minutes of the chronograph and you can see it only goes to 60 minutes.

You have a great collection of seiko divers. I too have the seiko solar diver chronograph but it is on a fitted metal bracelet not a rubber strap. I also think that the 12 /24 hour subdial on the right hand side of the watch is a bit of wasted space. It would have been better if seiko had placed a decent day and date in its place, instead of the tiny date window at the 4.30 position. Just one question, are you by any chance left - handed?. I noticed that you wear your watches on your right - hand wrist. I'm right - handed and cannot wear any of my watches on my right - hand wrist. (just feels weird).

NICE COLLECTION! About to receive the Special Edition, Pepsi dial one made with PADI, with the blue band, but would like a SS bracelet. You mentioned you got a Strapcode one that fits well? Can you share which one that is please? Thank you.
@cloudzrest4 жыл бұрын
At the time I made the video strapcode did not have a bracelet for the ssc617. Maybe they do now. You could always get a straight end link bracelet and that would be fine , it just wouldn't be an exact fit with the case.

The reason why they changed the minute hand into a slimmer version is because it make it easier to read the chronograph..

I'd love to see a quick side by side of the SKX007 and SNE437. I was planning on picking up the SKX007, it's a great looking watch (and a living legend) but that SNE looks very similar and quartz + solar is far more convenient than automatic.
@cloudzrest6 жыл бұрын
KiwiPokerPlayer leave me your email and I'll send you some pics . I'll delete your email address comment after I get it. I don't have a skx007 but I can send you pics of my skx009 with the sne437. The sne is going to keep perfect time and require no maintenance. The skx does not keep perfect time, especially out of the box that has a reputation of not being very accurate. You can regulate the watch to make it keep better time, but this is a bit inconvenient to do. Also you have to wear the watch almost continuously because it will stop running after about a day and a half if you don't wear it. So in terms of function the sne would be the better choice. In terms of style, I think the skx is the winner. The sne has a bigger face and bigger bezel, and it feels a bit more spread out, I don't like it as much as the skx. In my opinion, the skx design is perfect I think it is a beautiful watch, I'm just not a real big fan of the movement. If you do decide to get an skx, keep in mind that the rubber straps or Jubilee bracelet that comes with the watches not very great, I'd recommend getting a aftermarkets oyster, or getting saicos newest version of the rubber strap which they sell on the sne and SRP watches. I know you can get that rubber band at LongIslandwatch.com that rubber strap is substantially better than the one that comes on the skx, so I'd highly recommend getting one, getting a nice band for your watch will make a big difference in how much you enjoy wearing it. Hope this helps

cloudzrest. After reading what you've said here and based on a few other "watch guy" videos I think I'm going to go with the SKX007 (thanks for the kind offer to email me pics though). It's such a legend of a watch, a fact I only learnt recently after stumbling across an Urban Gentry video of him comparing it to a Submariner. It blew my mind a little bit that he was taking about an iconic Rolex like the Submariner and a $200 Seiko and comparing them as equals. And he's not the only one, I've seen a lot of serious watch collectors who have an SKX in their collections alongside Omegas, Rolexs etc. I've also never owned an automatic so what better place to start? I'll probably replace the strap with the Strapcode Super Oyster the guy from Long Island watch recommends as you're not the only person to say both the straps which come with the SKX aren't really that good. I don't think keeping it wound will be a problem, I tend not to take my watches off, I even sleep with them on so it shouldn't be a problem. The accuracy might take some getting used to but I like fiddling with watches so it should be okay. I saw a tutorial on how to regulate the SKX and it looks like something I'd be comfortable with doing. Might even be fun seeing how much I can improve it. Although I've always worn watches I've usually just gone with Casio stuff, G-shocks, Ediface etc. I didn't realise Seiko was such a huge step up in style and quality for not that much more money. I can see myself ending up with more of them, I really like all of the watches you showed in this video. Thanks for the advice. Also, funny intro. What was that sweet music? An elevator music version of a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory song?

KiwiPokerPlayer I prefer the xkx, I think it's just a better-looking watch. I think you'll be happy with that watch. As far as regulating it, just get a watch case back opener on Amazon or at Harbor Freight, and open it up. I have a video on how to regulate a watch using a computer program. You can also regulate it just by comparing it with a quartz watch like your Casio. I've heard that the skx takes a little bit of settling in before it is consistent with its time, so you may want to wait a few months before you regulate it, see how it does compared to a quartz watch, it might not even need regulating. Both of my skx is did. I think the most accurate way to regulate it is comparing it to a quartz watch and checking on it every hour or couple hours, my experience with using a watch app for a phone, I think that the electronics and magnetism from the phone interfere with the beat rate of the watch, so when you regulated against the app it isn't really going to be that accurate because it's being influenced by the magnetism. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I had better luck with a quartz watch than using an app.

Good video. One question: Where would you advise me on where to purchase the replacement rubber strap you have? I have been searching for a while.
@cloudzrest6 жыл бұрын
Elijahman T I got mine from longislandwatch.com This is the 22mm version. I had to email mark at longislandwatch to specifically get the 20mm one for the SNE SSC SKA models, since he doesn't have it listed on the website. Email him and he'll get one for you. www.longislandwatch.com/Seiko_R02F011J9_Rubber_Dive_Strap_p/r02f011j9.htm

Thanks for that review, really enjoyed it, can I ask, are the lug widths the same on this and the SKX so I could swap straps around? I’ve got the SKX. Thanks.

Nice video but would it kill you to align one of your watches pips at twelve o'clock? My OCD is kicking in.
@cloudzrest4 жыл бұрын
You're not the first person to say that... I use the bezel often so it never is aligned with 12 hehe
@robertlindo80582 жыл бұрын
I have watches with rotating bezles and unless I am timing something the lume pip simply has to rest on the 12 o clock spot. It just looks odd any other way, especially on a Pepsi bezel.

Do you think the bezel from the Coke would fit onto the SNE437?
@cloudzrest5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm that's a good question. I sold my SNE437 and my SSC617 so I can't say for sure, but i doubt they would be interchangeable. I think the sne bezel is bigger.

Strapcode has some nice metal ones. I bet an oyster would look good, but I don't think they make custom end links for that model, so you'd have to get straight end link

Got mine in and took it on a shallow dive to check the water resistance. Did a 100 foot bounce and then left it in the sun to check for moisture. Nothing, really is water resistant to 100 foot at least. It is ISO certified for 200 meters. Well worth the $200 I paid for it on eBay.
