Pre-Load Nitrate Blend
Consume 1-2 servings daily for 1-3 days prior to the event. On each day of the event consume 1-2 servings 2-3 hours prior to the start time. (This will allow enough time for the nitrate to be converted into Nitric Oxide. An increased bioavailability of Nitric Oxide has been shown to increase blood flow, improve cognitive function, enhance muscle contractility and reduce the oxygen cost of exercise.
Hydro Fizz Electrolyte Tablets
Ideal to be incorporated into the daily routine in the weeks leading up to the event. Sip little and often in the days leading up to the start day. This will ensure riders begin the race in a fully hydrated state. Avoid excessive water intake. Sodium concentrations can become diluted to a deadly level causing hyponatremia (essentially drowning the body). Slowly consume 5-10 ml per kg of body mass of an electrolyte rich drink (Hydro Fizz) 2-4 hours prior to exercise.
Intra Energy Drink / Intra Gel
Aim to consume at least 40-60g of carbohydrates per hour of exercise completed (this is a given rule for all exercise bouts 90 minutes or longer. More experienced athletes will be able to consume more carbohydrates per hour due to the stomach's ability to handle larger volumes of carbs without gastrointestinal distress. 40-60g per hour is a solid benchmark, however if the stomach can handle it we recommend upwards of 90g per hour when using a Fructose / Maltodextrin dual carb mix such as the RIDE Intra Range.
