SSE vs WebSockets vs Long Polling. Martin Chaov. JS Fest 2018

The talk from JS Fest conference in Kyiv, Ukraine.
If you have a huge amount of data to deliver quickly you might have tried using web sockets to do so. However, sockets are hard to maintain and scale, not to mention multiplex. In this presentation I do a comparison of the three methods of delivering data to the front-end. Server-Sent Events gives you the ability to deliver your content with less overhead on the infrastructural side. In this talk I will cover SSE, Long-Polling, and Web-Sockets with their pros and cons, including the technical demo. We will touch a bit on the connectionless push and available optimizations for the mobile network.

@7:10 the picture in the slide is actually contra to header overhead. The payload is way too much that the header is almost negligible! :P

Thank for your video, I read a book of SSE where the backend server' code use "while" to push the information from the server to the client , but others programmer don't recomment the use of "while" to send information from the server to the client, because it take a lot of resource of the server. Can you tell me if that it is true?
