Like, the few times I can even recall Goku using (mostly just SHOWING) is, is in the beginning meeting match with Goku and Beerus, the TOP fight between Goku, Caulifa, and Kale. There’s also other non-canon material, like Dragon Ball Heroes and Super Dragon Ball Heroes, obviously making legit use of SSJ3 (AND SSJ4, LOVE that). Hell, the fact that I’m basically just NOW researching that Goten AND Trunks basically never even legitimately access any other forms besides maybe the advanced graded saiyan forms (underneath SSJ2), makes me sad….

No form is irrelevant. Improving base strength means that improvement will be multiplied by whatever form is taken. Proper control would involve knowing which form to use in a given situation so that power is not wasted unnecessarily. This is why we still see Goku and Vegeta use these forms.

There’s also the fact that Trunks in the DBS manga was able to push SSJ2 beyond its normal limits and make it as strong as SSJ3. Same with Vegeta in DBZ: Kakarot, manually though. It’s seems he did in Battle of Gods, but he never seemed to do that again. Honestly moving forward, I really hope Goten and Trunks get Ssj2 next real soon, hopefully in the next arc, and I definitely hope they utilize it a lot along with also getting Ssj3 individually, mastering, enhancing, and evolving Ssj3, developing their own special individual forms and stacking all their Ssj forms on them, and also then following the God Ki route and having their own unique journey with God Ki. I do think Goten and Trunks could utilize Ssj2 a lot and keep it even a lot more relevant. Also if they don’t get Ssj3 individually, then I definitely hope Goten and Trunks master and enhance Ssj2 like Future Trunks did and also stack enhanced Ssj2 forms on top their special individual forms that they might potentially develop. Tech Starr i always felt that SSJ2 had grade forms, we see this with Gohan's debut of the form, which doubled his power from mastered or 4th grade SSJ, and also Vegeta's rage induced power up against Beerus. Gohan was clearly fighting above the believed 100x power up from base, and Vegeta had pushed his further than SSJ3, which was 4x stronger than the normal or 1st grade of SSJ2.

@@zakcat5175 I accept that it’s canon. But that’s kinda why I like some fan manga like multiverse better, it doesn’t play to that card of ssj3 draining. Yet ssj4 is even more powerful and has the best stamina. I just don’t buy it… but it’s “canon” once again, just my opinion.

@@zukodean285 I mean ssj4 isn't rly canon either so who knows if it would be more draining or not if ur was actually canon. Ssjb is more draining than ssjg so I think it might be. Maybe ssj2 is more draining than ssj1 but ssj1 just doesn't cut it anymore. But yeah multiverse's canon is different but better in many regards

Whoa i just had an idea we all know how Goku was the first super Saiyan and gohan was the first super Saiyan 2 both people from the son family it would've been awesome if goten was the first person to get super Saiyan 3

I believe SSJ 2 is the "actual" intended form of a super saiyan. SSJ 3 is Goku's "experimental" form, and he called it as 3, and SSJ Blue E / Royal Blue is the "actual" intended form of a super saiyan god if he went SSJ

2 is also named by Goku too. Form didn't have a name before Goku named it in Buu saga. Toriyama in 2014 interview stated that both 2 and 3 are just mutation of SSJ and regular SSJ is actual true form one should master not 2 and 3. Also, Blue Evolution isn't intended form of SSB and more like experimental limit break by Vegeta too since a different manga exclusive form called Perfected Blue already exist which was achieved by Goku in manga which made him stronger than Fused Zamasu. Blue Evolution isn't even Toriyama created form but something entirely done by Anime staff to sell more merch for TOP

The thing is you’re better off using ssj2 in most situations more than ssj1 or ssj3. Ssj1 is weaker and ssj3 simply takes up too much energy to be useful

SS 2 is irrelevant for audience because of its appearance being too similar to SS 1. But for the Saiyans which includes Goku, SS2 is much more useful than SS3 and SS1, because it is the perfect balance between the strength of SS3 and the endurance of SS1. Goku would rather use god forms over going SS3 in most cases, which just shows that SS3 might be the most wasteful form for usage and is memorable only because of the initial hype and its distinct appearance.
