I would, this is just for spiceing things up , then you go to the mastering multiband eq and compression and the final on or even two limiters for additional little thighteness. And if you hear those high harsh sounds coming up because of all the limiting and eq-ing, you can for the grande finale use SSL fusion again - just the hf compressor module to polish the highs to perfection.:) I would use it like that.

I would love to hear it actually gain-matched. The processed sound is still louder than the bypassed signal both times he dials it back. Yeah me neither, since I am a concealed carry kicking ass since decades and bitching about my foot getting dirty with shit. So by which scale do you level match? I am positive it would be safest to use a SPL Meter and measure the speaker output directly, imagine some room mode giving you the impression the file with the boosted bass sounded better. Even better: measure Speaker THD because it can make the audio sound very different from what is actually there, when level rises and the nonlinearities begin to rise exponentially proportional.

Reading the comments, it seems my question has been answered. That question being, who’d spend $2,500 on something like this? I’ll admit, that EQ sounds pretty good. But, not better than about 10 different plugins I can name. Compressing the high-end? Ok... Also, probably 10 plugins that will do at least as well. I guess my point, is when people think about their 2-bus, and SSL in the same thought, the legendary bus compressor is what they’re thinking. If a $1,500 mixer (SSL 6) can have one in it, why can’t this? And.. I guess to further that thought, any unit designed for for a 2-bus without a full-band compressor in it is useless for me. Am I missing something? Is there a compressor in there I don’t see? I get trying to come up with stuff that is the opposite of what your brand is known for, but SSL is a beloved name for a reason. I don’t understand leaving out the one thing that is most synonymous with the brand.

@karatekraken5 жыл бұрын
@@ovonisamja8024 yeah, obviously. Recently I tested a limiter and somehow it made everything sound really bad even though it was loud. What's even more suspicious, that it sounded just as bad after I level matched it. Then decided to not use it at all, simply clipped the converters until I had the nice squarewave I was looking for. Not so easy, all the distortion created a lot of aliasing, so I decided to get a DSD converter, because they don't have ninquyist frequency issues. Is this the level of stupidity you expect of me? How about you actually research what happens at higher levels according to Fletcher Munson. Then you should research how input level and DA-Converter performance correlate. Then how THD in speakers is rising with higher levels and how the different order harmonics create different impressions in speaker sound (warm, clear, screeching, sparkling, detailed, etc.) Then come back an tell me about those AB comparisons and louder is better "tricks". Have you used a Volume knob yet? Guess what, those barfing ports, breaking windows and police officers banging on the door are just an illusion, a trick. Lol.

@@ovonisamja8024 I am sorry my explanation wasn't clear enough, I wasn't offended by your comment but by that nonsensical nitpicky attitude. The difference the processors in this unit make, are way bigger then the perceived "improvement" caused by the increased loudness. It makes no sense to call "louder is better trick" in this situation. It is like worrying about the breaking glass in a car crash, even though it is safety glass which breaks only at speeds where the sheer force of the collision will cause your organs to be ruptured by the seatbelt.
