Again, very pleasing. Always been pleased with your videos, but something feels way more mellowed out lately. Love It! I regret way back when, when you were anchored off St George in Grenada, I was there too, that I didn’t do a stop by in a dinghy and say hello. 👍

Hi Rick family and crew. (Pirates) are not good people, they choose a target and do there best to destroy and profit from such, you are no pirate. Had to relate that to you and get it of my chest. Your response and wishing me happy birthday was really appreciated, my reply meant thank you, truly meant and may the gods be on your side. Your no pirate is a compliment.

@@SailingSophisticatedLady I mentioned two stroke because of its widespread use in many countries you might be visiting. Availability of parts and ease of repair in remote locations. Too bad the battery motor hasn’t worked out - it sure was fun to watch when you received it and set it up. Cheers 😎

15hp two stroke outboard has been the way to go for years for a fast dingy on a cruising sailboat because of the power and lightweight. The new 4 stokes are getting lighter now. I think Tohatsu or Suzuki 15hp 4 strokes short shaft is around 95 pounds but hard to beat a proven 2 stroke Yamaha Enduro 15 at 85 pounds especially in Panama where they can be bought new at a great price and is #1 outboard in that part of the World.

About dinghy propulsion - have you seen the Wynn's electric OC tender? It's got a jet drive and can get up to fairly respectable speeds.
@davidyendoll5903
@davidyendoll5903 5 ай бұрын
What about keeping the electric motor as a spare or for quieter journeys to special , natural places ?
@SailingSophisticatedLady
@SailingSophisticatedLady 5 ай бұрын
yes, respectable speeds but a 20Kw motor with a 10Kwh battery system will only run at planing speeds for around half an hour.. and a 10Kwh battery system weighs almost 200lbs, and that's for a dinghy that only weighs just over 100lbs.. the battery for a 400lb dinghy weighs 700lbs, plus the 150lbs for the motor.. just not feasible for a dinghy.. a fiberglass or aluminum fishing boat maybe, but not a small inflatable boat.
