As a teenager in the 70s, my dates and I found that having a nice ice house sure was a huge upgrade from the back seat of my Chevelle. Sometimes I even used it for fishing.

Your going to need to get rid of that vent free propane heater. It puts out 1 pint of water for every gallon of Propane it burns.

After your done cleaning the slush out of your holes, take the bucket of slush and splatter it where your back tires will be when you would be ready to hook up and leave the area. This splattered slush will re freeze and create traction for your rear tires. The tires on your fish house will get sunk in with flooding and the snow you used to bank the house. The refrozen slush will save you a headache in the future when you want to hook up and leave. I also throw some slush outside the entry door, so there is no one slipping going in and out of the fish house. Congratulations on the new house!

Sobi: you mentioned the beauty of a cold winter morning. I totally agree. In the mid to late 70s I was working in Black River Falls, WI. On one January morning, as I left my motel room, it was sunny, clear, crisp, calm and -40 degrees below zero without the wind chill. Any moisture in the air was frozen and glistened like mini rainbows in sky. So beautiful, so awesome, such a memory. What an amazing morning and my car even started. I was truly blessed to experience such a day of God’s breath taking creation. Stay safe! God Bless!

Man I’m Florida boy born n raised, grew up fishing way off shore to the bank of a lake or pond. Never been ice fishing always wanted to. Had a few guys I use to work on the road with from Minnesota we’re supposed to take me a couple years ago but Covid ruined that! If I had one of these shanty’s, I’d be in that thing butt naked fishing!

Now that is one nice ice "shack"! A former co-worker of mine and his brothers pooled their money and bought a setup similar to yours. However, they aren't into ice fishing. They use it as a snowmobile camp. They figure out what area they want to ride their sleds for the winter and then find a body of water to set up their "camp" on. Cheaper than buying the land and stick & brick camp; plus their "camp" can be easily moved if they want to explore a different area.

cut down a couple pool noodles to about 15'' in length. Screw them to your wall where you fish and hang your most used lures from them. Quick and easy access for you. Also always point your ice house in the direction you need to leave the lake on. That way if it gets blown in you don't have to worry about making a turn on the lake in deeper snow to get off.

This is awesome. Congratulations you guys! You've got the co detector and the backup heat source which are important. Keep your propane tanks warm in the real cold temps like we've been having. If it's not too terrible out, I wrap mine with moving blankets. Otherwise you can buy plug in tank warmers through Northern Tool, Amazon etc. Lastly, always make sure wherever the forced air furnace exhaust is outside is facing away from the wind. If the exhaust is facing the wind, it will blow the exhaust back into the house and you'll have co building up in the house. Tight lines Sobi and Steph!

One thing to take note. Don't leave the bucket of fish in the shack with you if you stay over night. The fish will go bad. I did it 2 years ago when I kept 30 fish over 3 days of fish went home and told my dad and he said most them were bad from sitting in 60⁰+. Awesome looking fish house

The main thing I’m concerned about with wheel houses is that I just can’t leave it on a lake for any length of time. I know one guy that has his south of the cities and it was broken into a couple times. Once, they just ruined the door completely. He told me his buddy left his on Circle or near there and went out to it but there wasn’t one there! He never did get it back. If I were to haul it to and from but not leave it at a lake, I’d be ok with that. All that said, I like the layout of your house. Have fun! So nice to have an insulated house!!!

That CO detector down low like yours is mounted is the key. CO is heavier than air so a combo fire/CO alarm up on the ceiling is stupid. Once CO gets up there everyone is already dead. Make sure to always keep one but set it up low!!

lmao "...its -8. seems like some of the coolest mornings are the calmest." no shit everything that moves is dead or sleeping! And did i see a cooler with a fish tank air pump to keep your bait alive? amazing! Best case scenario too! thoughtfully customized by the seller for the same use as the buyer. Seller did custom work with THEIR experience in mind, meaning no cut corners(eg moose lanterns and tv with the nice full swivel wall mount). Seller put their heart and soul into it and it moving on to either upgrade or because of life changes/situations etc and BRILLIANt on releasing the best specimens instead of keeping them! Obviously that leaves those genes in the lakes genepool to breed big fish. Topping it all off you posit an idea that i've never considered; a cold weather ice fishing trailer can double as a year round camper trailer! Amazing!

also you should get the jackery 1500 for your ice house its a solar power battery bank its 1500 watts and comes with 4 200 watt panels it would be a good substitute to haveing a generator running all night and using up gas you could probably set the jakery up to just run at night on the battery bank and then charge in the day time wile the generator runs that way you'd save yourself some gas especially if all you need to do is turn lights on at night probably wouldn't make much sense to leave a generator running 24/7 wile you sleep

Awesome shack. Only thing I would change is the TV placement. Most screens are just plastic now, so if you cook bacon in the morning some of the oil might burn the screen, or worst case scenario it would just add fuel to a pan fire because it's so close. Other than that you've got yourself a beautiful ice shack. Makes me want to build one now.

Candles just in case you’re heater fails or runs out also sented to keep the fish stink down 😂😂 I recommend evergreen. Door mat to brush ur boots off before coming inside keep snow out lighter to start furnace manually if you have to. Heat magnet to put on propane tank when it gets real cold keep propane from freezing or hand warmers on the regulator and also recommend find some skies makes pulling threw snow easier

Maybe add a coffee maker if you’re coffee drinkers, or a foldable fish cleaning station!

I wish I could be that enthusiastic about anything anymore. Everyone seems like really wonderful people but my suburbanite self couldn't possibly relate any less. Good on them.

Im sure you have 1 but definitely need a first aid kit. You don't need one till ya need one. I've never ice fished as i live in swfl but that shack looks awesome.
