It was an honor to be present at about half a dozen Masses offered by Fr. Bourmaud. + Requiem æternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen. +

Tell you what I have viewed thousands of hours from all the best minds and nothing no thing is as clear sober intellectually bright non combative but virile and with care for all souls as these SSPX priests. Their seminaries must be a marvel. True Fathers

Very sorry for the loss of Fr Bourmaud--I was just getting to know him through these videos and his book on modernism. I am grateful for his knowledge and for the joy in Christ he showed, even in these days of crisis for the Church.

A true Catholic school education would be invaluable for a young adult to build their foundation on. I think about the years of brainwashing and wasted time in the public school system, and all the confusion it leads to. I'm learning stuff in this series I wish I learned 10-15 years ago.

Went to Catholic schools from 1st grade through college straight through. You didn't miss anything. None of this was taught. 1968 to 1984. It's like I was adopted and never told until now. I'm 59.

Andrew: I'm running way behind on the podcasts, so maybe this is less an issue, but just wanted to drop a tip that you should be in mute unless the other person has finished speaking. It's particularly noticable in this one as Father's audio makes him difficult to hear.

Any podcast sharing and enriching us with the Word of God. The world lacks this now, please make some. A Priest or a Teacher who can share the true meaning of the Word of God hiden in Jesus Christ. If anyone knows one, kindly share. My soul thirsts the everlasting water pouring from the heart of Jesus. I know it's through hearing the word of God that one's heart and soul are transformed, to do all the Good which God wanted us to do, for which Father in Heaven created us through Jesus.

We get it, Sartre: a waiter does not have to be a waiter to exist. But Human? In what sense could he exist without being that- what, not how, he is? And how is he supposed to depart his species, cancel his membership therein, along the lines of the waiter just leaving his job? The notion that Existence precedes Essence is nonsensical. To put the point in Thomistic terms, an essence is the subject of its existence: the participant in Existence/I AM. Furthermore, our Essence does not limit so as to nullify Freedom/Free Will. On the contrary, Rationality empowers us to free ourselves from Sin and Ignorance so as to live virtuously: beyond that capacity lies License, not Freedom. (Sartre's autobiography begins 'I'm glad my father died when I was 5; he would have crushed me otherwise.'). Finally, Immanentism is like 'playing an indoor sport.' Good 1, Father. Thank you for the wonderful discussion. RFGA, Ph.D.

This doesn't give modern philosophy its due. Heidegger Levinas Nietzsche etc are not "modernists" as the term generally applies to the followers of Descartes and they viewed themselves as being "anti Cartesian". I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water as many "existentialists" come back to Aquinas as he is addressing reality. I also thought that was a cheap shot to throw about Christianity being the religion of "not yet" as it's in the context of "preparing the way of the Lord" and the fact that in our Catholic faith we are waiting for the second coming of Christ. This is not to say the freedom granted by these people didn't have a general detrimental effect on Vatican 2 or the Church in general but reading Edith Stein's (Husserl's student) reflections on empathy, women, and God are not only highly original but also far richer than most contemporary Thomists considering the subjects.

We are gratefully accepting donations in order to assist our priests beef up their technology - please consider that we do not have the resources available to larger media companies all the time, and many of our priests do not have the ability to set up professional sound and video remotely. Thank you for your charitable comment.
