Thanks for sharing, very detailed and clear overview. Do you know if you can add the parameters in the condition as wel? I tried it and it looks likes it works, but only with the default value. If you change the parameter it does not change the colors in the report.

Hi Jos! You can certainly reference parameters in formatting expressions and the formatting will respond to changes in the parameter value (don't forget to click View Report to pass the new parameter value to the report once you've changed it!).

Thank you very much for such interesting tutorials! Very informative and helpful! Unfortunately, I cannot find a video tutorial about replacing text based on IF condition. Example is a multi line address. If Address 2 or 3 are blank then moved City, State/Province, zip/postal code into one of those lines. Do you have such video? Thank you again!

Hi Dmitriy! Here's a link to the full Report Builder playlist kzbin.info/aero/PLNIs-AWhQzcmEFHyxCRwA_gb29WOz5SJU You can find the video on the IIf function in Part 7.2 and the video on Null in Part 7.5. The basic pattern you need is =IIf(IsNothing(Fields!Address2.Value), Fields!City.Value, Fields!Address2.Value) I hope it helps!

how to add a row bold line in specific Row??😢😢😢
@WiseOwlTutorials

Hi! You can't select a specific row to apply Bold text, but you can write a condition which does it, assuming you can identify the row somehow. E.g. =IIf(Fields!Title.Value="Jurassic Park","Bold","Default") You can place this expression in the FontWeight property of the details row to make Jurassic Park bold.

Hello , Thanks for the video . One of the columns in my Table actually has a value which is picks from a field from dataset and a textbox (for example =Fields!Total.Value/ReportItems!Textbox80.Value). The Total Field comes from a dataset in my report however I am struggling to find the Textbox80 . Is there any way I can search for this Textbox from Report builder UI. I tried seeing in Properties view as well but Could not find a way

Hi Dolika! Sadly there isn't a way to search for a report item within the Report Builder tool as far as I know. You can open the rdl file of the report in a text editor and search within this to find the item you're looking for. You could also make changes to the code to highlight the item when you open the report again in Report Builder. Here's what the code for a default text box called Textbox80 looks like when opened in Notepad: true true 8.59367mm 38.01533mm 6mm 25mm 1 None 2pt 2pt 2pt 2pt You could, for example, add a background colour within the Style node at the bottom of this code, so the last three lines of the code shown above would look like this: HotPink It's not the best solution but I hope that it helps!

@@WiseOwlTutorials Thankyou so much . Agreed there should have been a way provided in ReportBuilder to be able to search for items. May be suggestion to them .. but the way you suggested works well as an alternative :)

@@WiseOwlTutorials Yes I did with this trick and it was actually a textbox in the table which was displaying sum of all of a particular field in my dataset . So it would have been difficult to find without this trick . Thankyou so much. With your videos and your help and inputs I have been progressing well on Report Builder . I was new to this and I now I am comfortable to build new basic reports and also enhance some reports . Cheers !
