Dill Pickle they get like 6ft+ can be extremely moody if not raised correctly require their own swimming pool + a very large enclosure, and have a large diet. And unlike snakes lizards (not all the time but some of mine) like to be fed everyday. And then on top of that you’ll have to clean his pool possibly every other day to avoid uncleanliness and you need the right fixtures and bulbs for a reptile that size. All in all you’re lookin at a large grand right there. On top of that some animals LIKE to be left alone, so when you constantly handle them they CAN become aggressive (like this snake) OR they can become distant and hostile if left alone. (I.e. my Tegu once I let her sleep in her tank for two days alone.) Just letting you (and everyone else) know how serious it is the to take care of one. I rescued a Savannah Monitor with metabolic bone disease, because she wasn’t getting her right amount of Calcium and didn’t have a UVB bulb which they NEED and her bones got soft and she died. It’s heart breaking and I wouldn’t want anyone to go through that. Also realize who you’re buying your pet from. :)

Dill Pickle I just really do love reptiles and honestly I wouldn’t want someone’s first experience to be so terrible and heartbreaking if in the event you’d have to give it to a zoo. There are good “starter reptiles” some of which that are not are tegus, Sav Monitors, or any kind of Water or Nile monitor. Some that are good that I quite love is the Uromastyx one of which I have (the Yellow Niger Uromastyx) or a Bearded Dragon (again recommend not getting it from a chain pet store) OR my personal favorite little girl a Sudan Plated Lizard, she’s about 2ft, insectivore, and super sweet species another easy take care of.
