The fact that the planet has the rings bigger but invisible shows that the saturn rings might be alot bigger
@ortherner Жыл бұрын
its because saturn's rings are made out of ice, which reflect a lot of light making them very visible.

I understand now why astrophysicists do a lot of this kind of modelling. Whilst every run of such a simulation will end up differently, you still get to see that under certain conditions, the same kind of event or action will occur. The particles gather into mostly discrete masses, and the larger ones will eventually consume the smaller ones. Also, if a smaller body develops and eccentric orbit of the largest one, it may get too close and end up being torn apart... a demonstration of Roche's Limit.

How do you make moons and rings? When i add gravity, it just goes straight to it, nothing else
@OneArmDan Жыл бұрын
You probably need to use the rotate tool first, and also need to get rid of friction in the cosmos tab. I also weaken the gravity point a little in my sim. For more detailed info check out the discord.

this is SPH not N-Body. SPH is like a liquid like here N-Body is when to particles collide they merge in to one big one until theres just a big ball in the center
@OneArmDan Жыл бұрын
What makes you say that? While this could be considered an SPH simulation due to the smooth-particle dynamics aspect, it can also be called an N-body simulation, since every particle is enacts a gravitational force on another. There's no rule that states an N-body simulation must combine it's particles into individual bodies, that just makes it easier to compute. If you want to learn more about the game's specifics, you can check out the game's discord in the description.

Why isn't the large one rotating?

I'm not quite sure myself, but my guess is that the settings I used for particle interactions causes some rotational dampening when they are grouped together.

this is great but the one problem about these videos is they're not very accurate, space is huge and you would need to space them very far away, also there is a lot of matter in big bodies and you would need way more particles. im not an expert or even a novice so take what i said with a gallon of salt.
