I ran the car rental office in Marlboro’ Motors, the Vauxhall Dealers in London Road, opposite Godfrey Davis Ford from August 84 to late 86. St Albans was a great town, Harry Smiths, The Adelaide, Batchworth Hall….ahh the memories!

So many 70's cars in the late 1980's. Ford Cortina, Princess, VW Golf MK1, Opel Kadett C Estate, Datsun, Triumph Toledo, Mini, Austin Maxi, Escort MK1. Volvo, Triumph GT6. Fantastic!

An L reg Morris Marina estate still being used as a taxi in c1985, behind is a nearly new A reg Citroen BX. Vanden Plas 1500 with its distinct radiator technically not an Austin Allegro. Vauxhall Magnum with twin headlamps (high spec Viva), orange Datsun 180B. Two Volvo 245 estates pass each other.

I can remember being out driving in the mid 80s . There was a lot of bad driving and to be honest the road rage was more likely to end up in punch up than now. Driving standards and manners are probably better now than then
