Good point MOE but have you checked out the fee schools charging one student for a hour or 2? I am a teacher and I can't afford to send my child to extra lessons because of the high cost. Math class is 1400 up, accounts 2750, etc. Fare and lunch money not included yet.

For a long time, the Jamaican government failed to identify the need for rental units where people can rent an apartment in that complex, which should be a multi-floor building. In colonial days, they used to have a government yard in Trench Town. The concept at the time worked, although they were insufficient. Under Mayor Arnett in the early sixties, built some 4-floor rental units on Shakespeare Avenue in Duhane Park. The buildings are still there, serving their purpose. When he became he became Minister of Housing; he built Arnet Garden in the upper Tench/Town area. After a while, the area became a political garrison, and the good people moved out. Arnett was a white Jamaica with vision. Why can't these present governments do the same in middle-income areas, keep it free from politics, and create a board to run it, collect the rent, and do maintenance? There should be some form of accountability. The income from rent could help the cities and towns development. As it is now, Jamaica is facing a homeless crisis. I hope the government realizes the situation and addresses the problem. This idea that every man must have his house is just a short sitedness. There is no country in the world where everybody is a homeowner. Housing people go hand in hand with home ownership and rental complexes. Take it from a fool like me.

You do know ppl who are undocumented send more money home and are more likely to have built homes because they don’t take anything for granted or are as lackadaisical as those who are citizens/permanent residents?
