I notice that ST Augustine does not have that tight sound like they did back in the 80's and part of the 90's. Guess kids as the world evolves their interest change and the criteria has lacked over time. Back then they were known for their high stepping and very tight sound. They were the Southern of the high school bands, not so much now...

Yeah the culture is just about dead in the city. St Aug was the best high school in the country in the 90s . They were traveling the world and noticed by the country among colleges for their quality sound

@@ellsworthconstructionllc Totally agree! I received a letter back in the late 80's invited me to apply to ST. Augustine and be part of their Band. But my family did not take interest in my extracurricular activites nor came to any of my performance. I was in a white band in Middle school from kenner, and then Grace King Sr. High, in Metairie, LA. I was invited because I was First chair in Honor Band scociety everytime I auditioned and first chair in the All-Star Band. My band director forced my to do it after the first two years of not participating. Low- self esteem at the time lol. I say that to say ST Augustine was the band that every black boy wanted to be apart of.
