I live in Canada and I grew up with this jingle. I had no idea until this moment that there are actually bells at St. Clement that ring this way. You learn something new every day.

Oranges and lemons, Say the bells of St. Clement's. You owe me five farthings, Say the bells of St. Martin's. When will you pay me? Say the bells at Old Bailey. When I grow rich, Say the bells at Shoreditch. When will that be? Say the bells of Stepney. I do not know, Says the great bell at Bow.

The bells of Old Bailey play the same tune, but it starts with "when will you pay me?", and so on.

@@Egill2011 Is old Bailey also in London? I am Canadian and have not visited England, so I am sort of out of the loop here on this side of the ocean.

Lydia Ruleman (Parker) 1742-1799 my 5th great-grandmother was buried at the church or in the other graveyard belonging to it she would have heard these bells in her daily life, its great to know i can listen to them too in 2020.

The current building dates back to 1680--but the parish, and the "church" was old on the Strand, in the 1300's. Katharine Swineford (ne de Roet) was married there, to her first husband, Both were in John of Gaunts "houshold" (the strand castle) ---

Usually on the hour until 9pm. In Brixham Devon, the church chimes "Abide with me" at 8pm each evening. It was there where the Rev. Henry Lyte wrote the hymn.
