I suffer from Bipolar disorder myself. All of my life I knew that there was something wrong but had no idea what it was. Then I lost my job and had a breakdown. I was so ashamed because I felt like less than a man. But it was a very humbling experience. I don't understand it but I do feel closer to The Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother. Now that I know that there's a Patron Saint dedicated to people like me. I can surely say that I am truly grateful 🙏.

Thank you for this. I suffer from bipolar 1, PTSD, and crippling anxiety. I have fought with my spirituality for years even though I was raised a Catholic. I recently had a conversion after begging for help and having many people pray for me. Things I can’t explain. Thanks to God, St. Joseph, and Mother Mary, and I St. DymphnaI have been able to put my anxiety aside and I’m returning to work after a month of being unemployed. This is exactly what I needed to hear today because I have bipolar myself and have been dealing with it since I was 18 or so and I’m now 58. Both my husband and I have gone through at least 35 years of ups and downs due to my mental health. I wished I had known that I could’ve prayed to Saint Dymphna to help me through these times. My best friend was a victim of her stepfather’s sexual abuse from the age of 5 and she always said she was at fault because although she hated it she had some pleasure . Her life was very tragic and she died long before her time. ❤

Not a catholic but I've always been interested in the Women saint's and their stories as an author. The gentleness of this video makes me happy, I feel too often the concept of virginity is something the church can easily twist as a tool to shame and silence victims. But telling St. Dymphna's story is such a lovely way to change that narrative. There is nothing wrong with choosing to live a life of piety, the same as there is nothing wrong with having chosen to not, but I love the moral being that the sin is not the fault of the one who had their choice taken from them.

St Dymphna truly is an amazing saint! I often become overwhelmed with anxiety and there was a time when I couldn't cope with my laundry piling up to the degree that I was in chaos. She helped me maintain focus in a miraculous way and keep to the task. It may sound crazy but the washing machine started to sound like I had turned the power switch on ready to put on a load of washing - without me pressing the button! I filled the machine with clothes and performed the next step of the cycle, then when it finished I hung out the clothes. Then, it started again by itself - ready for me to re-load! This continued until I had made a significant dent in the laundry to be done. It soon became time to prepare dinner. A friend who wasn't a believer in God was present to witness this miracle, and confirmed that I was not imagining what was happening! St Dymphna helped me again the following days to continue. I feel embarrassed telling this strange story, but believe me it is true!! Thank you St Dymphna. I pray to her often and she comforts and helps me with Anxiety and Depression.

Wanted to share a small testimony of this saint that just happened to me just now. I’m going through uncomfortable trials of the evil one concerning jealousy and narcissists young lady developing some animosity against me because of lack of attention and lust (she going all out for that lustful attention, me not wanting that attention & so it comes to me, naturally) without me wanting all sorts of attention. So this and other harassment all around me because of my success, natural beauty of mine I cannot control and humane personality has made many ladies around me highly insecure of themselves and so now are now hating me for what was naturally given to me. My point? This and more has made me highly fearful to the point I can’t sleep, fearful of going out and attend to my necessities like work and other things. Before you finished telling the horrible story of Saint Dymphna , my severe fear dissipated in the matter of seconds , leaving me a warm sense of peace 😊

Her shrine in Massillon, Ohio used to be on tbe grounds of a state mental hospital. It was there for years. Then, someone decided it was inappropriate to have a religious shrine on state ground. 😢😢😢 The shrine was moved to St. Mary's church in Massillon, but to me it isn't the same as the old shrine. 😥

It is important to her story! She made a promise to God and she did not take that lightly and that's why she ran away. God allowed her to be murdered rather than her promise be broken. Terribly sad. She earned heaven because she loved God more than herself. Her promise to God was a true deep promise of a pure soul. It Does Not imply that if she would have been raped that her virtue was in question or her fault. It is Very Important to her story that she loved God and wanted to please Him and Do His Will. We cannot diminsh that. May God bless and guide anyone who has been raped and those who are trafficked. May God help us help them out of those horrible situations. 🙏 Even after someone has been raped whether they had been a virgin or not they can choose to love God most of all, and Do His Will, like St. Dymphna. May God guide us all with the fruits of the Holy Spirit 🎁 🙏 ✝️ ❤.

I just thought of something father. Maybe the church's emphasis on her purity is a signal to Christian women? As in early Christians could confuse rape as a request for martyrdom? As in the act and being passive in it or fighting your rapist? There is in us responses to trauma in the moment. It is guided by foundation. There is in us as an animal the 'Right or flight response but also the nightmarish freeze response. The focus on defending purity in the face of such evil is beyond strength. Maybe this frees victims in the moment from freeze and enables a fight. Purity= dignity Thankyou🕊
