I was struggling a bit with Lent today. For some reason St. Kevin and his life popped into my head. I didn't have the resources to find out much about him when I was younger. So I came on KZbin to find out more. I love the legends and metaphors around him. This mass really lifted my spirits and I'm sure Lent will be no bother to me now.

So much wisdom in this beautiful homily. Many of us long for our Churches to be calm, quiet places to hear God speak to us. Thank you for this beautiful message, Father. St. Kevin, pray for us.

Speaking of overcoming fears and other cultures…. A Tibetan children’s story retold in an American storybook, tells of calling out your fears by facing your fears. Naming the monsters under the bed or in the shadows of the caves. When we walk with Christ, we can step in snakes and walk through bay caves unharmed… I believe it and I’ve lived it.

Great homily and so true. Saint John of the Cross said ‘Silence is God’s first language’ and Habakkuk 2:20 says ‘But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.’ When I’m driving I don’t have the radio on anymore, I use it to pray. Same when I’m out cycling in the countryside. I use my quiet time to speak with the Lord. And as you and Habakkuk say, in the sacred space and silence of the church we can more readily listen and hear God speaking in our hearts, particularly during Eucharistic adoration when he is truly present with us. Next time you’re in Glendalough, let me know. I live nearby and cycle there quite often!

Let’s not forget about praising God. Think positively may seem new age but it’s also a Christian perspective. I had my smartphone blessed. Saint Kevin blessed the animals with holy water tells another catholic storyteller book.

It’s amazing when evil men turn back to Christ… that’s the story of Saul becoming Paul right?
