My grandma's first husband was killed together with other 300 Chinese young man in a small town near province capital city Huhehot, Innermongolia. My grandma said that it was because the town's men resisted rather than welcoming the Japanese soldiers' invasion of the town. My grandma hid in nearby mountain knowing that the Japanese soldier are likely to rape women when they occupies a place. A few weeks later when my grandma and relatives went to find her husband, they found that those 300 men including her husband were all dead and dumped in the city moat with their fingers cut off.

I saw a scrapbook from a dead solider from the same war. He had survived the March of Battan. It had still shots of a man being beheaded taken every second or so, plus other photographs. I was 13 at the time. It was my girlfriend's grandpa. I wonder what became of that scrapbook. Now I look back and wonder why this old man decided to share his son's scrapbook with a kid.

@@ClayMastah344 I had nightmares for weeks, but then put it away. Sometimes all these years later, I'll have a flashback or a dream of those photos. I wasn't clear in the story on a detail. His son came home alive, but committed suicide within the year. That is what I meant by a dead soldier, not that he died in service, but after discharge.

@@jrsun it's important. It also helped me understand, even if I didn't like it, why parents were so anti-asian.
