That was impressive. It’s only videos like these that make me want to go to Ireland. I’m way way over on the west coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island, I’m Irish Canadian. We have the same misty rain and cloud. The landscape is more rugged, however. But my point is, no tourist video of all the crazy things to do in Dublin does anything for me; in fact, the opposite : it repulses me. If you want to save Ireland, in my mind there is only one way, but it’s no easy task. In fact, it’s much much harder than the generation of 1916, in my humble opinion. Because you have to swear off modernity. That is to say, you have to convince your fellow Irishman to give up liberalism. The Irish would have to agree to a decline in material wealth. As odd as this sounds, the Philippines are an example of what the Irish need to become. In the Philippines, where I’ve visited many times, there is no declining birth rate. They are 100% Catholic, unapologetically. They rely only on themselves. Their sovereignty is not submerged in a supranational organization. But they are poor. Spiritually and physically rich, with large families, but materially poor. If I were to lead an Irish nationalist party, the first thing I’d do is leave the EU. Ireland would be poorer, for sure. But remember: the cost of living is adjusted such that prices are pegged to what people can afford. I was stunned on my first trip to the Philippines when I met men who had wives and families, yet still owned their own homes on their own land. Because of course you can’t price land on American prices in the Philippines. My point is, even if Ireland would become poorer as a result of leaving the EU, the national treasury of Ireland would be forced to set prices that were reasonable. I’m not optimistic that Ireland will do this. I think the die is cast, and it’s too late. There are too many people in Dublin that are high on globalism; too many interested parties wanting the vampire’s ball to continue.
