Great organist and choir. I am an organist from London UK.. perhaps someone can explain to me why the congregation are taking pictures and talking amongst themsleves and not singing ! I would have thought that the congregation are there to join in the singing?! So many people with their mobile phones and not singing at all !

+Michael Walton I understand what you mean. Such a solemn moment is not first and foremost the time for taking pictures and talking with other people, friends and family members. I can't exactly answer your question. I'm from Germany and not religious. Nevertheless, for me it's wonderful and absolutely solemnly, to be on Christmas Day in St. Patrick's Cathedral for Christmas Mass with the Archbishop of New York. To answer your question: it's the end of the mass and I think that's just America. And I think that people from all over the world, from different cultures and with different religions come to New York to celebrate this mass. I think in Germany it's different during such a mass. People stick on their seats and sing until the end ... and if you listen carefully - I'm singing this song because I love it and because it's one of my absolutely Christmas favorites. :-) Greetings from Germany and have a nice Advent time. Ronald P.S. I'll try again this year to visit this Mass on December 25 in NYC's St. Patrick's Cathedral - just as last year. :-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3OxgKd8qJZ-d6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYW7onqllrijY9E

JBFANN HI Ronald. Many thanks for your reply. I agree- its a solemn occasion and one which is a very special time of the year. I have never tired of being organist and I especially love the Christmas/Advent services. I love the fact that congregations join in and sing from their hearts which sadly did not happen on this occasion ! . Here's wishing you a wonderful Christmas season too! Michael

This is ,?, American manners in action. They wouldn't do this in my church. We don't even allow mobiles, but they can text. Americans need to learn some manners from the English, and I am an American, what ever that means. Is that the reason we are called YANKS?

lovely church. Was it under some sort of renovation? Damage repair? Lots of scaffolding. Must have sounded just heavenly!

+Noeisdas's Everything Channel Yes, indeed - a huge restoration. I was there for Christmas Mass December 25, 2014 with the Archbishop and will be there this year too. So I hope that the restoration is fully completed this December for Christmas Mass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3OxgKd8qJZ-d6s

Even worse, why are the people applauding? It's Holy Mass, right? Applause is not appropriate at Mass.

I think they're clueless Protestants or fully non-Christian tourists.

Well, there's little difference between Novus Ordites and Protestants.. @@brynnkohler4084

Applause? Obviously you've never been to Rome when the Pope finishes a Mass.
